Garmin Fenix 7 - Fake steps after training

Hi Garmin. My Fenix 7 shows fake steps after training with HRM pro plus. Why is that? Some hot fix?

  • Explain precisely how they're fake.. Are you training with just the HRM Pro and using data caching?

  • HRM-Pro Plus does have a feature where it syncs HR, steps and intensity minutes if you wear it while you’re not wearing your watch. I think this is a separate feature from the thing where it optionally merges HR data into your activity when you save it.

The irony for me is I want steps to be synced when I play basketball and I wear the strap but not the watch - it used to work for me but not anymore.

Do you have your HRM-Pro Plus synced with the Connect app on your phone? if so, try removing it. That should prevent HR, steps and intensity minutes from being synced.

  • Take a look at time. I end the training with 12k steps, then watch change it to 18k steps, then come back to 12k steps. I wonder from where is coming that difference, happen after last update several times. And fake steps was to catch attentionWink

  • I run with both. Difference appear when I coming to back from training. Well disconnect should help but to be honest before last update everything was correct.

  • Yeah I agree this sounds like a bug.

Just out of curiosity, was your activity roughly 6k steps? That would support my theory (that your steps are being double-counted bc the strap is also syncing steps after an activity.)

EDIT: but if it's reverting back to the correct number, then it's just a temporary thing and maybe I wouldn't worry about it so much.
