Fenix 7 Bluetooth & WiFi Problem

Had a Fenix 7 for about 12 days, no problems up to Friday lunchtime but now cannot connect phone or to WiFi.

Tried all of the trouble shooting tips, and a few ideas found on the forum.  Definetely not the phone as it connects to my old Fenix 6 without a problem.

Any ideas?

  • Which firmware version is your watch on? Was there an update that might have caused this?

  • 17.23, which I've read was released recently but no idea if it was updated on mine Friday when the problems started...

  • There were some reports like yours. A user reported that the problem could be fixed by reinstalling the firmware:

    • Go to your System > About menu
    • press the top left Light Button 8 times
    • Go to the very bottom
    • select the option to reinstall the software
  • This might not be the same problem, but I just spent two hours trying to get my new fenix 7 pro solar to connect to my home wifi (Vodafone router, full fibre). I kept getting connection failed, even though the password was correct and I had tried with the Garmin mobile app and Garmin Express. It is my first ever smartwatch.

In summary I solved it by going into the Vodafone wifi app > Nework assistance > Merge your SSID and then selecting "Do it later". This seemed to separate the 2.4GHz and 5GHz connections, so that they were then listed separately when viewed under the "Manage your wifi" > Main Wi-Fi box. (Before that they appeared as one, labeled as "2.4GHz/5GHz").

After doing this, I tried again using the mobile app (Connect) to test the connection on my fenix (Devices>Connectivity>Wi-FI>My networks, then select your wifi network, then "Test Network Connection". After 5s I got the "Successfully connected to...." box on the app.

  • 5GHz probably was the problem because Fenix (as far as I know) can't handle 5GHz, only 2.4GHz.
