Issue with Positioning Accuracy After Software Update to Version 17.20 on Fenix 7X SS APAC Version

Dear Garmin Support Team,

I hope this message finds you well. I am writing to report an issue I have encountered with my Fenix 7X SS watch, which is the APAC version purchased in Mainland China.

Background: The pre-installed maps on my watch are based on the GCJ02 coordinate system, which is specific to Mainland China. In contrast, I also use the OSM topo MAP, which is based on WGS84 coordinates. Due to the incompatibility between these two coordinate systems, I previously managed the maps as follows:

  • In hiking, mountaineering, and trail running modes, I only enabled the OSM topo MAP and disabled all pre-installed Mainland China maps.
  • In running mode, I enabled only the pre-installed Mainland China maps and disabled the OSM topo MAP.

This setup allowed my watch to function correctly for positioning and navigation.

Issue: After upgrading my watch to version 17.20, I have experienced significant problems with accurate positioning. Specifically, when using the OSM topo map in hiking, mountaineering, and trail running modes, the watch is unable to achieve correct positioning. The position displayed on the watch map deviates from the actual location by several hundred meters.

Request: I kindly request that your technical team investigates this issue and provides a solution or a patch to resolve the positioning inaccuracy. The inability to rely on accurate positioning severely impacts the usability of the watch for outdoor activities.

I appreciate your prompt attention to this matter and look forward to a resolution.

could you guys please look at this problem? Thanks.
