Random increased max heartrate 200>230

I have just noticed that my max heartrate was raised from 200 to 230, which affected my heartrate zones and therefore my training load.

Is there any way to edit previous workouts to match the correct heartrate zones? I tried deleting the workout and reuploading the .fit file, but the .fit file has the heartrate zones written into it (confirmed by looking into the csv file)

I've tried with the SDK tool to convert a .fit to .csv and edit it that way, but converting back from .csv to .fit isn't included in the SDK tool (online tools fail). I can't upload the editted .csv file due to errors (I have to manually set the correct FitBit data, which are all wrong).

That wouldn't change anything for the watch.

Max HR will definitely impact your heat rate zones. Your training load is based on EPOC and is calculated independently of your training zones, using only your Max HR, Rest HR, VO2 Max reference points, and then the HR and pace/power (for run/cycle), or HR only (for other activities). Your training effect is based on EPOC and your training patterns.

  • Thanks for the answers. My max heart rate has always been around 200. I have all auto-detect features turned off (heart rate/threshold pace/FTP) on all devices, to prevent these sudden changes from happening. I guess it doesn't really impact any training load, it's just a number after all.

Again, it does impact all the metrics on the watch. In fact, this is the single most important value to enter right on the watch. For example a 5bpm error on your Max HR can triple the error of VO2 Max estimates.

Make sure your Max HR is correct. If you know the correct value from a lab test, input it manually. Otherwise, always use a chest strap and let the watch detect the Max HR for you.

After you have a new Max HR, run a new threshold test to get an accurate LTHR. Pace/power, Vo2Max, LTHR and LT pace are used to calculate the training effect.
