New PB every run after upgrading to Fenix 7x

Recently, I upgraded from the FR255 to the Fenix 7X and I'm currently using version 16.22. I've noticed something odd: I keep setting new 1-mile records almost every day, no matter how slowly I run. Surprisingly, I even achieved a new 1-mile record during today's recovery run. Another issue is that despite setting my unit to metric, the watch displays 1-mile records instead of 1K. I'm unsure if this is due to a database migration problem or another issue altogether.

  • you'd still be notified for new PRs for all records on the device

    Unless

NOTE: If you have not accepted a PR in Garmin Connect or if the particular PR is hidden, your device will continue to notify you of new PRs until one is accepted. To resolve this, you would need to make the PR visible and either accept or reject the automatically detected PR activity. If you know of a PR activity, you can also assign it manually. Once you have accepted or assigned the PR, that information syncs to your device so it can accurately notify you when a new PR has been achieved.

    Sorry, to be absolutely clear:

    - where the support article says "if you have not accepted a PR...your device will continue to notify you of new PRs until one is accepted" is clearly referring to "new PRs" as in "any time for the given distance" regardless of how fast or slow (not necessarily the *best* time), which is what OP is reporting. That's why it says you have to accept a PR to make the notifications stop (which is exactly the advice you gave OP). If it was actually the case that you'd only be notified of a "real PR" (fastest time), this wouldn't be an issue since most people aren't constantly setting PRs on every run.

I think the wording on the support article is bad.

    - when I say "notified of new PRs for all records on the device", I mean a real PR, which is when you run the fastest time for a given distance

Rereading what I quoted, I think it's even worse than I thought. I thought that if you hide a PR in Connect, you would still get notifications for a real PR for that distance (i.e. actual fastest time). But it actually seems that if you hide a PR, then you're back to the original behavior which also applies when you haven't accepted a PR: the device will just notify you of a "PR" no matter how fast or slow you ran.

I could be wrong, but that's my reading of it based on:

    - the fact the solution for being notified of PRs no matter how slow you run is to "accept a PR"

    - what the support article says about the behavior when you haven't yet accepted a PR

In any case, it's a moot point since you can't currently customize the PR list, and I'm not holding breath for a fix anytime soon.
