New PB every run after upgrading to Fenix 7x

Recently, I upgraded from the FR255 to the Fenix 7X and I'm currently using version 16.22. I've noticed something odd: I keep setting new 1-mile records almost every day, no matter how slowly I run. Surprisingly, I even achieved a new 1-mile record during today's recovery run. Another issue is that despite setting my unit to metric, the watch displays 1-mile records instead of 1K. I'm unsure if this is due to a database migration problem or another issue altogether.

  • I keep setting new 1-mile records almost every day, no matter how slowly I run.

You could try reporting this bug to Garmin: [email protected] or [https://support.garmin.com/en-US/ql/?focus=topics]

Hopefully they won’t just ask you to reset your watch to factory defaults (although that might be a viable option if you don’t mind losing your existing data).

Another issue is that despite setting my unit to metric, the watch displays 1-mile records instead of 1K

I think Garmin keeps records for certain standard race distances, regardless of unit settings: 1k, 1 mile, 5k, 10k, half marathon and marathon. So this part probably isn’t a bug.

  • Check the records you have in Garmin Connect Interweb - Personal Records from the menu.

You can customise the list to your liking adding or removing records as preferred - including removing the 1-mile record and adding a 1k.. Accept/decline any records that have not been accepted. Once happy with the selection select Send to Device. That should sort out the repetitive records being offered.

  • Although `customize list` is not clickable in my case but send to device seems to solve the issue. Thanks.

  • Didn't know they have dedicated email for bug reporting. Will send them a bug report for sure.

  • It’s not really dedicated to bug reports, it’s just general support, but I’ve had success sending bug reports to that address in the past. They’ve also been good about replacing faulty hardware (accessories like chest strap) when I’ve contacted them at that address. I will say that Garmin is generally pretty good about replacing broken accessories for free.

  • Hmm based on the following support article, it seems this behavior may be intentional. If so, it’s not the greatest design imo.

The reason this is happening now for 1 mile runs could be that 1 mile and 1 km PRs are relatively new for Garmin devices.

Receiving a Personal Record From Garmin Connect:

If a new personal record is detected, you will be presented with an option to accept or reject the activity as a PR. You can also edit, select, or delete personal records in your Garmin Connect account. For steps on how to do this, see below.

NOTE: If you have not accepted a PR in Garmin Connect or if the particular PR is hidden, your device will continue to notify you of new PRs until one is accepted. To resolve this, you would need to make the PR visible and either accept or reject the automatically detected PR activity. If you know of a PR activity, you can also assign it manually. Once you have accepted or assigned the PR, that information syncs to your device so it can accurately notify you when a new PR has been achieved.

  • customize list` is not clickable in my case

Not for me either. Looks like there's a link not set properly in GC Interweb. I can't find anywhere in GCM (iOS) where the records can be customised. Have to wait until Garmin sort out the link in GC.

Logged it in the appropriate place - Link to Customise Records List is not working in current version

  • `customize list`

Unfortunately, even if it worked, it would only customize the PRs listed in Connect (either the website or the app). I'm pretty sure the records listed on your device would be unaffected, and you'd still be notified for new PRs for all records on the device.

    https://support.garmin.com/en-CA/?faq=unLSr8lk0z5EUCi0k8Yys8

You can customize the PR categories displayed using the Garmin Connect app or Garmin Connect web. Customizing the personal records list will only hide or unhide the PR when viewing the list in Garmin Connect.

  • On my profile stats i have 5 and 10 km PR. At the end of every run i got fastest 1 miles or 1 km badge, i could not make photo, it goes away quick.

After upload in connect there is no pr that i can accept like before 5 or 10 km.

I dont really care about fastest 1 km after a recovery run. Watch is Fenix 7x pro

  • you'd still be notified for new PRs for all records on the device

    Unless
