Running activity on a track - advice needed...

I have recently started sessions on a track, but am unsure what activity or settings to use - typically it will be a warmup (inside the track, not on it) and then intervals around the track.

1) If the intervals are using obvious track markings is there any need for watch to inform me when to stop/start any runs or recoveries? I'd imagine that would be unnecessary.

2) In terms of the saved session data, is there any benefit to what it will show me if I setup a workout to have the intervals and recoveries, or will the data be the same if it is just a 'run' where my speed is increasing and decreasing?

3) Some sessions look quite complicated to create as a workout (lots of differing lengths etc) so is it better to just use the lap button to manually add these as I run? Does this only apply if I am not using a workout?

4) Should I use' Run' or 'Track Run'?

Thanks!

Definitely Track Run.  Distance measure is really accurate and the recorded GPS tracks are pretty.

That's up to you.  If you know your workout and you're not using the watch to execute a structured workout, then just use the track markings.  If using the watch to execute a structured workout, just follow the watch instructions.

    2) In terms of the saved session data, is there any benefit to what it will show me if I setup a workout to have the intervals and recoveries, or will the data be the same if it is just a 'run' where my speed is increasing and decreasing?

The saved data will show the warmup, interval/recovery, cooldown data if the watch executed a structured workout or used Open Repeats.  If you manually executed a workout and used the lap button for each stage of the workout, only basic lap data will be displayed.

    3) Some sessions look quite complicated to create as a workout (lots of differing lengths etc) so is it better to just use the lap button to manually add these as I run? Does this only apply if I am not using a workout?

It may just be me, the more complicated the workout, it's better to use the watch to execute the workout.  That way you don't need to remember the details of the workout in your head.
