Latest Garmin app update ruined my home page

The recent update as of today, lost all my data, doesn't allow me to edit my homepage, that the update modified nor will it allow me to go back to my previous home page.

This is a terrible update, who tested this???

  • Without full apple integration Garmin LTE will probably never be successful in North America, and Apple will never let that happen. Then again some ppl might be happy with SMS support at a minimum, with phone calls as a bonus.

iMessage doesn't fall back to SMS unless the message fails to send to the iMessage service. The best you could ever hope for as an iPhone user is notification forwarding over LTE and no ability to be able to reply to them in any way because Apple doesn't allow that either. Good luck convincing your friends to switch over to using SMS when contacting you for the odd time that you might be out running.

So you're right, Apple users are basically limited to using an Apple watch unless we see an antitrust lawsuit.

I'm an Android user and admittedly have been pondering switching over to Apple over the past few months, simply for the LTE functionality on the wrist and not having the distractive allure of phone on me at all times (yet another thing that makes me a total weirdo). I can work around the lack of metrics with Athlytic and on-watch routing with WorkOutdoors. Battery life... well, carry a powerbank I guess.

My big concern is that once I'm inside that walled garden I'm probably never coming back out.

  • I don't know but I am FURIOUS. I've spent years recommending Garmins to people who are serious about using it as a fitness watch but I would not do so now based on the terrible interface. From what I've seen, it is made to be more like an Apple watch where people are tracking "health" as opposed to fitness. I LIKED Garmin because it focused on the fitness/workout-specific metrics but now the interface is so awful I barely ever open the app. AND it's slower to update. Worse in every possible way. GARMIN PLEASE GO BACK!

  • I agree.  I do not like the new homepage.  I am constantly needing to change what I see, you can't move items up or down, and I have lost data.

certain items, calories, heart beat are not recording. I am doing the same training and now it tells me I am detraining  I am not sure what is going on but it is a pain.  give the option to go back to the old homepage

  • This is totally shite! And where is my goal? I want to see my running goal for this month at the top, first thing on my home screen.

  • This is totally shite! And where is my goal? I want to see my running goal for this month at the top, first thing on my home screen.

It's always just one click away...

    HTH

  • Yes, but not on the homepage. That's actually the only reason for me to actually visit the website: see where I am with regards to my goal. having to click through a menu just to see this is shite.

  • one click

Used to be 0 clicks because it was on the dashboard, and it's actually 2 clicks away, one to open the menu, and you lose overview of other stuff when viewing goals.

  • This discussion is surreal.
The new screen is rich in data, has excellent graphics, and everything is configurable.

in my Home page I can see everything
(many more details than the previous version)

    just to name a few:
    - training status
    - training readiness
    - body batteries
    - sleep score
    - general training
    - specific workouts

Always on the same page (below) I have the At a Glance section:

    vo2max
    weight
    endurance score
    fitness age
    floors climbed
    stress score
hrv status, calories, etc. etc. etc.

on the right I have training plans, events, challenges and much more

You fail to evolve. All these complaints are ridiculous.
This is Garmin's best update in 3 years!
