How does the connection between a Edge 540/840 and Fenix 7 Pro work during a training?

Hello

Is it possible to connect the Edge 840 (and 540 also)? in realtime with the Fenix 7 Pro during a training? If yes, what functions are connected? Is it just the Heartrate? or more like: Stamina? Kalories? And what about the activity analysis and advisors (e.g. CYCLING ABILITY ANALYSIS, COURSE DEMANDS ANALYSIS, TRAINING EFFECT, RECOVERY ADVISOR) ? Are those combined and updated with the garmin cloud? because my Fenix 7 has the same informations... are they working together, showing the same anaylse results and advisor tips?

Thanks alot!

  • Bearing in mind that, for the sake of data accuracy, Gamin advises against dual recording.

Using the Extended Display Mode allows you to view, in real time, most of the available Fenix activity data  on your Edge head unit. Alternatively just record the activity on your Edge unit and sync with the Fenix. One caveat if that some users are losing their active calories from their rides when synching with EDGE x40 devices.

  • thanks mcbit!       but what does extended display mode mean? does just uses the fenix data? and no dual recorind problem?

  • You will see the data captured by your watch.

This is a very limited view that most will use during a Triathlon. You can record with your watch and will see (some) data on the EDGE.

If you don't do triathlon record your bike trainings only on the EDGE. Everything will synch back after you saved your workout to your watch.
