7X Pro sapphire solar - not quite "solar"

Hi to all,

Does anyone's solar charging work? I mean in new watch, without warrenty actions. I bought the watch 2 months ago. Today is beautiful sunny day. Battery level: 52%. Putted watch on the windowsill - nothing, exept it was hot. How quickly will the battery increase its charge by even 1% on such a sunny day? Maybe I put out too short, maybe 1h is too short?!
I restored the watch to factory settings, another attempt and nothing.
I sincerely regret this purchase. Not with "solar" in the name.

The Solar option is not meant to charge it, it's meant to decrease battery use. You actually can charge it (when not using much, no IQ watchface, sensors off, not ongoing activity recording) but the software…

The Solar option is not meant to charge it, it's meant to decrease battery use. You actually can charge it (when not using much, no IQ watchface, sensors off, not ongoing activity recording) but the software is not programmed to show it, you would need a reboot to update the battery stats.

The instructions laconically refer to this

But fo me it makes sense, solar charging only reduces the rate at which the battery discharges.

If the watch is hot the battery cannot accept a charge, so leaving it on a windowsill like that isn't ideal.

There have been tests where Garmin watches were successfully charged using solar, and this required keeping them at moderate temperatures. In the experiment I saw the watch was submerged in shallow water, but wearing it on your wrist would also work since your body will cool it.
