As of 3/28 my HRV average has been steadily growing by 7ms a night. Was there a bug in the recent update?

If you were sick, the HRV would drop down, not raise up. High HRV is generally a positive sign - it means rested state, and low stress (told in a simplified way).

If you want lower HRV (higher stress), just drink some alcohol, eat heavy food, or get into a violent dispute with your partner before going to bed

Your source provides no references and it's in conflict with everything I've ever read on heart rate variation.

Heart rate variation will normally decrease with illness, stress, overtraining and alcohol or drug consumption.

The topic is far more complicated the low bad and high good. I’m in no way a expert just want to drop that it seems not to be black/white. Future studies will surly bring more light into it.

I agree that there is more to it than the simple 'high is good, low is bad'.

The change I see is abrupt and significant, a 3x increase in 4 days. Makes me wonder if there is a problem with the sensor. The more in depth literature seems to ultimately peg this value to age and gender and fitness, and from what I have see, I went from an age appropriate value to something pretty high.

We do not know the reason. Could be also due to a seasonal change. If you suspect the sensor, take concurrent readings with a different device.

Try force rebooting your watch by keeping the light button pressed until the watch shuts down. That has solved a similar problem for me a couple of times with my Forerunner 965 (I suspect it resets the hr sensor). After forge reboot, my hrv figures have returned to normal levels.

I rebooted, will see what tomorrow's data looks like.

I had exactly the Same Problem. On my way!, With the lautest Update, HRV is suddenly back in low normal now and my training score and recommendations are a mess…
