Please fix notifications

I've had my fenix 7 x for months now. I spent 1500 au on it and it's not doing what 8 bought it for... A simple excised. 

Please fix. 

I thought turning ALL notifications o would fix it but after 24h I have 25 notifications on my Samsung s22 ultra and 0... That's 0 on the watch... Need I mention how much I paid for this watch again...

  • I've done a search but suspect this is a Android 13 issue. Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra. Latest firmware and software. 

    Had been noticing that after about 12 hours no notifications come through to my Fenix 7x solar. Now I can't get any notifications at all. I've tried force stopping garmin connect and restarting it. I've tried rebooting the fenix.

    The weird thing is if I allow all apps to send notifications to the watch they do all come through. Problem is I have games that notify every 15 minutes and that gets annoying but if I turn them off for the games after a while I get no notifications for Aquamail (and all other apps) which I really need. 

    Suggestions please? Notifications were the main reason for buying the watch as I'm getting song requests on it!

    Even afyer enabling ALL notifications... I have zero on the watch.. It's not a toy... I paid a fortune and it still don't simply notify me if a simple email..

  • Notifications work fine for most users. First of all check whether you have them enabled, and check the available troubleshooting tips in the article Garmin Device Not Receiving Smart Notifications From Phone | Garmin Customer Support 

    Then also make sure you keep the Garmin Connect app open on the phone, that it has all permissions, that the phone does not use any battery-optimizing options for this app, and verify whether the watch is constantly connected to GC. Unfortunately Samsung phones are rather well known for Bluetooth connectivity problems. You can try disabling the Wi-Fi on the phone, or resetting the Network - sometime it helps. If not, there are some more troubleshooting tips in the Sync / Connection Troubleshooting Guide. If nothing helps, contact the support lines at Garmin and at Samsung for further assistance.

    .. Guess most jut leave it all on but I don't want notifications every 15 minutes for my games... I've now had 20 notifications... Watch says 0... Not happy.. I just want notifications for emails (important) but if I do that, after a few hours I zippo. 

    I know the watch is connected, I can see my music changing ing every few minutes.. 

    Not happy.

    You do not have to enable all notifications. You can enable notifications for email only, and disable notifications from all other apps.

  • That's my problem, when I do that after a few hours *all notifications stop on the watch. The only way to keep them going is to allow all notifications! 

  • Sounds to me as the phone would kill the Garmin connect process after some time of inactivity. Try to turn off all these Samsung battery saving settings: https://dontkillmyapp.com/samsung#android-13

  • Thanks, thought that too but all the notifications work if I turn all notifications on in connect. They stop after a few hours if I only select the notifications I want. I have already turned off power saving for the app in Android 13.

    Notifications have been working now for three days, but it's annoying because that means my games are notifying me every 15 minutes as well.

    What about the general stuff, like adaptive power, auto-optimization, adaptive power saving ? Have you tried to disable these as well?

  • Already turned off however the fact that the app works perfectly when "all" notifications is turned on would suggest that the app is only having issues when I turn off these five games notifications. 

  • Okay. I still think the GC app is closed or frozen by some shady Samsung algorithm when it is inactive for some hours. When you activate all notifications, the app is active every 15 minutes when you receive your game notifications. When you disable most notifications and the app is inactive for several hours because it does not need to forward your notifications.
