How to manually set date?

I'm visiting New Zealand, including the Chatham islands. I usually set the time manually, but couldn't find a way to manually change the date. Automatic synching has been a disaster, as my watch now says it's yesterday and is also off by 45 minutes since I'm around the edge of a fractional time zone.

I've gone back to manually setting the time, but it still says it's yesterday, so is there any way to manually set the date?

To my knowledge, no. You must synchronize the time via GPS, then the date should also be correct.
However, problems can still arise because you are on the edge of a different time zone.

No. But you can set your phone to the right time zone and choose to sync the time from your phone. It normally should do already as default option.

As others wrote, you can sync the time either with GPS (you have to be outdoors), or with the phone. Usually the watch syncs instantly, when the system time changes on the phone, and you initiate a sync in Garmin Connect. If it does not, then go to the menu on the watch » System » Time, and toggle the setting Set Time from Auto to Manual, then back again to Auto, and sync with GC again.

It's further complicated by being on and off a ship, and ship's time is not always the same as local time. I ended up manually setting my phone time and then synching with the phone, but this was a lot of bother. I wonder why they didn't include such a basic setting?

I'm also on a ship. Just set the Timezone thats on the ship on your phone. The watch will use the time within seconds.
