Hello everybody,
I have been using my garmin fenix 7s for almost 8 months now, and it never had a single issue.
Unfortunately, it started doing quite wierd things a couple of days ago. At first, it was only the screen that would randomly turn on its light and use up 20% of battery in less than 6 hours. Some time later three of the five buttons stoped working, so that I could only control my garmin device via the touchscreen. Since the "light" button was one of the ones that stoped working, I couldn't even do a restart.
Then, I tried to connect my fenix 7s to my laptop with the garmin usb-cable, but unfortunately the garmin express app couldn't connect to the watch and the watch didn't show the usual "laptop-connection-screen" either. When I disconnected the device from my laptop, the watch was working fine again for some reason. As I didn't trust my watch anymore and wanted to get a good sleep, I decided to turn it off for the night.
When I tried to turn it on this morning it asked me whether I want to reset the watch. I hit "no" multiple times, but it would throw me back to the reset menu each time; the "back" button was again not working. So the only choice I had was to hit "yes" and do the reset. The reset failed about 7 times, booting back to the reset menu each time, until it finally showed the welcome screen and allowed me to set the watch up again. After I finished the setup it showed a display design that I've deleted a long time ago from my watch, but was working fine otherwise. (All the buttons were working fine)
A couple minutes later it started bugging the same way it did the evening before, with the exceptance that the garmin express app could connect to it, after I have attached the fenix 7s to my laptop, and the watch would show the usual "laptop-connection-screen" again. I considered this a huge success and took the chance to uninstall all the software from my watch that was not from garmin. Sadly, the watch is still not really working, as I can neither open the "controls menu" nor the usual "menu" (both should open via a long press on different buttons). The strange thing is that those two buttons are working for scrolling upwards (with the middle-left button) and turning on and off the light via the top-left button, which shows me that it must be a software issue causing all the problems. Examining further, the light is still turning on randomly, while the "back/lap button" (right bottom one) is still not working at all.
I wanna say thanks for any help in advance.
Maksym
info: the watch is running on the latest software version
