Polar Verity Sensor connection to Fenix 7 problem

I connected polar verity sense to my Fenix 7

once I train the connection is stable and correct HR is displayed on my watch

but when I don't train and I'm just sitting, my watch is not on my wrist - but I wear the band with the polar verity sensor on - the connection brakes, Fenix 7 is not displaying HR at all , and when I go to settings -  the status = not connected (external sensor) - then I wait couple of seconds and it changes automatically to connected - and then the HR is displayed properley on my Fenix for couple of seconds and it disconnects again...

any idea what why the connection brakes and goes into the disconnected mode  when I don't have any training turned on ? and then why does it automatically turn on when I go to the settings - external sensors - connection status and it everything comes back to normal for couple of seconds to disconnect again?

and HR sensor is set to AUTO ..

  • Just changed my walk activity power mode from Normal to Maximum Accuracy. My Fenix 7 continues to display the PVS HR data both on and off the wrist.

  • I did the same and works fine.  I think is on the right track.  OP needs to double check all the settings under "Max Accuracy" power mode.

  • According to the manual it’s a standard mode and has no other effect than turning on multiband GNSS

  • Yes it is a mode that is preloaded.  But, the user can go in and modify the settings in the mode.  If the OP changed the Accessories to "Disconnect", then the watch  would ignore the HRM.

  • You just SOLVED my problem ! Thanks.

I use the "Power mode: Max Accuracy" for "Trail run" and "Walk".

Because I want to set the GPS in dual frequency mode to benefit for the maximum precision.

But in this mode I never changed anything because in the manual it is said that id does not change any other settings.

I just had a look and saw that indeed that "Accessories" was set on "Disconnect".

I saw that I could change "Disconnect" into "Allow". What I did.

    Now:

When the VeritySense is connected AND an Activity is started AND the Fenix7 is removed from my wrist, I still can see the value of the HR on my fenix7.

Once the Activity is stopped AND the Fenix7 still removed from my wrist then the HR value is NOT displayed on the screen.

Once the fenix7 is on my wrist I can again see the HR value on the screen but I supposed thet the HR value is coming from the internal sensor and NOT from the external one. (internal sensor has higher priority I suppose)

    Thanks again.

So my fault was to have ignored that in this "Power mode: Max Accuracy" an external sensor would be disconnected.

And Garmin is not to be blamed.

But maybe it would be a good thing to indicate clearly in the status of the external sensor "Disconnect" instead off "Max Accuracy enabl..."  (see my photos in the precedent mail)

I wish everyone a nice day. Relieved

  • I didn't initially realise that the presets were editable.

If the OP changed the Accessories to "Disconnect", then the watch  would ignore the HRM.

So yes I'm in complete agreement.

  • For anyone on this thread, how far is the sync distance between watch and polar vs if I were to swim in a 25m pool and the watch is in my bag next to swimming pool, would it pickup the HR? Or would it sync later when connected?

  • I've never tested it but this is the claim. I'd imagine wireless transmission through water might be a problem though.
