Erratic Heart Rate Readings on OHR

Hello everyone,

I typically use my HRM Pro strap, but it recently stopped working, so I had to rely on the wrist HR monitor until the strap is replaced. I hadn't used the wrist HR monitor for a while, but in the past, it provided reasonably accurate results, not as precise as the strap but sufficient for zone tracking.

This week, during a run, I made sure to properly position and secure the watch on my wrist to ensure good contact between the optical sensor and my skin, without being too tight to restrict blood circulation. However, I encountered an issue where my HR initially increased as I began running but after 10 minutes at my Zone 2 pace, the watch suddenly reported 175BPM, which is typically my Zone 4/Zone 5. Then it abruptly dropped to 80BPM, which is unusually low for me. My usual HR range during runs is between 135BPM to 160BPM, depending on my pace.

I'm curious if anyone has any insights into what might have caused this sudden HR behavior, or if there might be an issue with the wrist HR monitor itself. It was a cold day (-3°C), and I'm aware that wrist HR monitors can be less accurate in cold conditions. Could the cold weather have contributed to this behavior?
