Downhill skiing - time in queues is included in the ski downhill time (no auto pause).

Why is the waiting time in queue for the ski lift included in the lap time in downhill skiing? There is no auto-pause option in the activity profile, and the watch also does not exclude time while standing in a queue. Due to the lack of such functionality, descent times and average speeds are greatly distorted due to the need to wait in a queue before entering the ski lift.
For example, the following is a record of my recent activity:

At the beginning, the queues were quite short, then they got longer, in rides no. 5, 6, 7 the queues were long. During the next two descents (8 and 9) I decided to manually stop the activity in front of the queue for the ski lift and resume it on the ski lift - that is why in descents no. 8 and 9 the average speed is several times higher than in the previous laps.
This is a total failure, from what I remember, when I used Fenix 6 there was no such problem. Garmin lives in a perfect world where there are no queues anywhere and you can immediately jump on the ski lift?

I think it was the same on fenix 6, but still it would be great to have auto pause for skiing. It should be quite easy for Garmin to detect queuing as skiing is a quite fast sport, so everything below like 5 or 10 km/h should be counted as pause/queue.

I have a fenix 6 and just came back from skiing. I use 26.00 and did not load any latest beta as it seems like now the watch does not stop recording while you are using chairlift. I asked tis question in beta forum but neveer got an explanation. I assume the 7 got this update too. While using 26.00, the watch stopped recording when i do not go downhill. Every stop stops the watch. I doubt i will ever upgrade my 6 if that is supposed to be a new feature.

This is unbelievable, clearly a backroom computer genius thought this was a good idea. Where do they find them? This has to be reversed urgently .. my ski trip is coming up soon! As someone pointed out do you really want to include the drive or flight to a hike in the total distance? I can't believe They have been silent on this issue for several weeks even though it clearly is a rediculous implementation of an activity. Maybe it's the Xmas holidays but they are over now. Let's hope a fix comes soon.

In my opinion, the main distance should be skiing only, and somewhere in the activity there could be a total distance (with ski lift).

But this thread is about something else, the lack of auto pause means that even standing on the slope or in a queue for a ski lift is counted as an activity and completely distorts the statistics, e.g. average speed, ski downhill times.

Likewise, the last run continues during the walk and in the gondola. This reduces the average speed and leads to an incorrect calculation of the distance. Strava Segment Speed (segment covers the entire descent) 35 km/h, current run 20-21 km/h. Fenix 7 safir güneş,15.77.

Could we have any update on this issue? We as customers have another season in which we would like to have a feature which allows us to have automatic pauses during this activity.

in my case it’s also uncomfortable to take off my gloves and search my watch under my jacket’s sleeve (which is elongated to be semi glove)

The only thing we can do is to submit the idea to add Auto-Pause to skiing using the Garmin ideas portal. Maybe if many people do that, Garmin will consider it.
