Fenix 7 bugged Bluetooth icon after update

Hi. After previous update (before 15.74) my fenix  7 incorrectly shows that the watch is not connected with phone. Before, it showed Bluetooth icon all the time, now the Bluetooth icon is on only when I run garmin connect in the background. Any fix to that?

  • “only when I use the app” or “always on”. Same behaviour. Icon appears when GCM is launched and disappears when application is closed.

  • So this is only for IQ store watch faces right? Maybe they was a change in the connect iq environment.  I would contact the developer of the watch face.

  • Those noticing this concern on an iQ store, or  3rd party downloaded watch face, check for updates to the content in the iQ Store app, or uninstall and reinstall the content.

If noticing the issue with a default watch that came preinstalled on the watch...try powering watch off and back on. Change to another watch face option to see if the phone connection icon is doing the same on another face, and then switch back. You can also try toggling the phone connection alert setting to see if that helps.

Those continuing to have the concern, please direct message me with the specific face you are having the concern with, and I can gather some additional info.

  • this is only for IQ store watch faces right

    Default watch face for me

  • After this, see if your connection experience with your phone improves

For me it’s nothing to do with connectivity. It’s only the behaviour of the icon. I am not having any problems connecting to my iPhone

The icon only disappears when the connection to the phone is turned off in Settings, Connectivity, Phone, not when BT is turned off on the phone or when GCM is closed. For comparison, the headphones icon only shows when the headphones are connected. It would make sense for the icon to show only when the watch is connected to GCM when it is running on the phone.

With GCM fully closed and BT turned off in phone settings.

With Phone selected off in Settings, Connectivity, Phone

  • I agree about the connectivity part, because even if this icon is off I still get all the notifications.

  • By the way, you are speaking about fenix pro. I don't have any issue with a standard fenix 7. Hardware is different. Isn't it ?

  • By the way, you are speaking about fenix pro.

The icon behaviour as described by the OP is also applicable to the Epix (my images are from the Epix). I haven't checked my Fenix 7 standard. I'll do that. While the hardware might be different icon behaviour is software.  appears to think the problem is linked to poor connectivity when I believe both myself anf the OP are referencing icon behaviour. Certainly, in my case, I am not having any connectivity issues.

  • I was thinking that the hardware is little bit different between the two watches and consequently the firmware too even if the software stubs are the same.

  • Just tried. Similar happens. I’ll post some pictures later. On the F7 I also have an icon with a line through it when there is no connection to GCM. At times that icon vanishes and then there is non icons like on my Epix. However, once connected the usual BT icon appears showing connection.

Not connected GCM/BT turned off icon disappears

    and reappears

Phone turned off in Connectivity icon shows disconnected
