Fenix 7 bugged Bluetooth icon after update

Hi. After previous update (before 15.74) my fenix 7 incorrectly shows that the watch is not connected with phone. Before, it showed Bluetooth icon all the time, now the Bluetooth icon is on only when I run garmin connect in the background. Any fix to that?

Those noticing this concern on an iQ store, or 3rd party downloaded watch face, check for updates to the content in the iQ Store app, or uninstall and reinstall the content.

Why would that be a bug? It’s showing a connection to GCM.

It used to be on all the time, even without app in the background. Now it’s off and o still get all the notifications. Makes no sense

Actually it’s strange, because the Bluetooth icon was on (while the app wasn’t running in the background), then I turned on the app, then closed it again and the Bluetooth icon vanished. I know I’m not crazy with this, because I’ve seen the Bluetooth icon for the past 2 months, and most of the times the garmin connect wasn’t running in the background. Something definitely changed.

You might well be on to something.

Just tested this. I closed GCM (iPhone) and also turned off Bluetooth on the phone. The icon on the watch is still showing. I shutdown and restarted the watch. The icon is still showing. Only when I turned off the connection to the phone in Settings, Connectivity, Phone, did the icon disappear. An assumption could be made that the icon only tells us that the watch is able to connect to the phone, not that it is. I don't agree with that, I have headphones paired to my watch but not connected and there is no icon present when they're not.

IMHO, the icon should only be present when the watch its actually connected to GCM and not be present when either GCM is not running (background for otherwise) or BT is turned off.

Hello. No issue with android and fw 15.74.

If I switch off Bluetooth or close GCM, icon disappears and vice e versa.

It depends on your watch face and it is configurable. I use Coros Apex like

Coros apex like, quartz. You can turn on the Bluetooth icon in the connect iq settings. Can somebody test this my way? If the icon vanishes, check your garmin connect app settings in the system(both android and iOS), and check how app can use location services. If it’s set to “only when I use the app”, change it for a moment to “always on” and see what happens to the Bluetooth icon.
