Default highlighted activity on Fenix 7S Pro

Hi, in my previous watches (VivoActive HR/3 and Venu/Venu2), by pressing the Start button twice, it defaults to the first (top) activity in the list. I found it was a convenient way to start your most used activity without having to look at the watch. On the my Fenix 7S Pro, pressing Start highlights the last activity you use instead of the first one. Is there a way to always make it highlight the first one instead? I know is a minor inconvenience to have to look at the screen to make sure you start the right activity but hey, no arm to ask lol. Thanks

  • So I gather there is no way to default the start button to a specific activity, or at least defaults to the first/top one?

  • Correct. Pressing start opens the activity list with the last activity in your favorites list highlighted. Pressing it again opens that activity.

  • Which sucks for me because I will do daily walk with my wife and the dogs while my other activities are ahdoc. In my previous watches, when going on my a walk, I didn't have to look at the watch to start a walk activity. Pressing the Start button three times would bring out the activity list, select Walk and start it. It was very convenient, especially when you forgot to start it and have your coat on, blocking the view of the watch.

How's the automatic walk detection on the Fenix? Does it start counting distances and steps once it starts the activity or does it back track to when the walk movement was detected? Is it reliable?

  • How's the automatic walk detection on the Fenix?

The feature you are looking for is called Auto Activity Start and it is available only on simpler watches with limited number of sport profiles (like diverse Vivo models, Venu, Lily, etc). Not available on Multisport watches like Fenix, Forerunner, Instinct, etc.

The Walk Detection feature on multisport watches only identifies walking intervals within a running activity, and marks them with a different color:

  • Worried Ok, so back at looking at the watch to make sure I start the right activity since there is no default one. One more feature request I guess...

Edit: Rereading your comment, that's not what I meant. I meant the watch auto detecting walk and bike activities. I never used it on my VA or Venu watches since it was so easy to start a walk activity.

That's what the Auto Activity Start is, as I mentioned in my previous post. Not available on Fenix. And it is not very probable to be added, since the watch offers dozens of different sports, and it is unable to detect which sport you are doing at given moment. It is easier at watches offering nothing else than walking, running, and cycling,  but not at these advanced models with a wide choice of different sports and sub-discipines.
