Fenix 7S Pro Solar Battery issues

Hi

My Fenix 6s Pro recently died after several years of service and I decided it was time to upgrade to a Fenix 7s Pro Solar.

I got it from John Lewis. I put on the Stryd power field that was on my 6s and thats it. Seemed to be on firmware v14.68. Battery life was terrible.  Even before death my 6s pro would last a week with activities. The 7S pro solar was lasting 3-4 days at best. I contacted garmin who did a log. On the day they did it, it lasted less than 24 hrs from a full charge. I was advised it needed replacing and JL have done that.

My new fenix 7s pro solar arrived but the battery drain continues to be high. Like around 2% per hour. I have tried:

1. the usual hard reset

2. removing the stryd data field

3. turned off wifi, turned off touch screen, reduced brightness etc

4. Gone for the least changing watch face

5. done a factory reset

6. joined the beta program and updated to beta 15.74

Despite all of the above the battery life remains poor. I am down 8% over 5hrs without using the watch. I don’t really want to return another watch as i suspect this is a firmware issue but equally having spent £600 on a watch, i am pretty frustrated its got to be charged every couple of days. Any suggestions as to other things to try otherwise i am going to look to return it again and try and source a 6s pro.  Thanks

  • having the same issue, was fine for the first 6 months, though battery lasted alot shorter during winter, or was fine for the first 3 months then battery started losing power quicker.

Charged it 4 days ago, as usual, battery lasted 3 days, charged it last night, it list 10 days since then for no reason, I did one half hour run, same thing happened with my fenix 6 which was why i bought the 7

  • I have the same issue here! 15.74 is the version of my software, which I hope gets updated soon as this problem was not there before. If it continues, I will be buying an iwatch as the battery lasts longer!

  • So an update.  I thought i had removed the stryd iq data field but it hadn't uninstalled. I finally fully removed that and watch battery life has been back to over a week with activities. So worth trying if you have any iq apps.  Not that its great as i now can’t use my Stryd pod! I guess i may try a reinstall at some point and see if it reverts to higher battery drain.

I think Stryd recently released a new datafield - not sure if that somehow broke the link with the old one, which is searching for a connection, etc.

  • Yes, they did and i think i went from the old stryd data field on my old fenix 6 to the new stryd field on my 7. I have posted on the stryd FB forum but not really had any response from Stryd. It clearly isn’t affecting everyone and unfortunately with these things theres usually a blame game as to who’s issue it is.

I will try and reinstall stryd this week and post up what happens.
