Garmin Fenix 7 Sleep tracking Stopped Working After Latest Update 14.68

Hi,

As the header says, sleep tracking is not working after the update. It was working fine before the update. This is my second Fenix 7 in the space of a week. I brought back the first one for the same issue. The same thing worked fine until, not knowing at that time, the actual update killed it.

I'd like to know if there is anyone in the same boat as me and if there is a fix for this before I return it again and move on to something else. Paying out €600+ for something that screws up after an update is not really a good start.

Regards.

  • I have the same problem. It was working fine now either doesn’t work at all or is complete nonsense. I have tried manual changes to the hours but no correction is made which it would do before. It’s like they have tried to fix or modify something but completely messed it up in the latest update

  • I Thought I was the only one having this issue. Sadly Sleep tracking stopped to capture sleeping data just after the upgrade 14.68  any solution so far ? I was planning to do a complete reset of my watch but not sure if this will really help is the issue is software related

  • Hi,

No solution so far I done a reset on both watches that did not fix it for me gave up in the end sent back the sleep function is one of the reason I purchased one.

  • Another option would be to able to rollback to the previous version and wait for Garmin to solve this issue, does anyone have   the previous version and share it for download ?

or where can it be found for download ?

  • not sure if this will really help is the issue is software related

If the problem was software related there would be many, many more reports of this.

Another option would be to able to rollback to the previous version and wait for Garmin to solve this issue

The best option is to contact Garmin Support directly and work with them to resolve the problem you are experiencing.

  • I have upgraded to Beta version 15.74 and everything is back to normal, hope this  helps

  • Thanks for the heads-up. I gave up in the end. Support got back to me 6 days later, saying sorry for the delay. We have a high volume of tickets, and his best answer was to turn on activity tracking using the Garmin Connect App. Go to Devices/Activity Tracking on/off. It even states that here on the Garmin website: support.garmin.com/.../

But here is the kicker: that tutorial is out-dated, and I'm sorry, but so is the guy in support. This has been superseded by Health and Wellness in a later firmware update and can no longer be turned off, so the website and the support guy need updating.

So your real pathway to this is >> Health & Wellness/Heart Rate/Pulse Ox/Move Alert/Goal Alerts/Move IQ is your option now, and there is no on/off tracker to be found, and this still didn't sort it out, so yes, it is the software update that killed it. The second watch went back. I got sick of it and ordered a Fenix 7 Pro sapphire solar titanium. If I hit the same wall, I'll try beta because I like the watch.

  • The support document (the link posted did not work) says "Some watches have the option to turn of Activity Tracking". I believe the F7 series does not have that option.

    So your real pathway to this is >> Health & Wellness/Heart Rate/Pulse Ox/Move Alert/Goal Alerts/Move IQ

I'm thoroughly confused by this. MOVEIQ has little to do with activity tracking and nothing to do with sleep tracking. It's there to identify activities such as walking or cycling when an activity has not been started. Outside of that, steps, stairs, etc will still be counted. MoveIQ puts an icon in the daily summary to show where unrecorded walking or cycling over 10mins (IIRC) have occurred.

I'd agree the assistance that Garmin Support provided is less than ideal but there still remains the issue of the bad fortune encountered where two watches in succession have failed.

As I said before, if there was a systemic problem with the 14.68 software this forum and the internet would be ablaze with complaints.

  • Sleep tracking was working fine on my F7X Saphire Solar since I purchased the watch some 2 years ago. That was until April 1st. Firmware 16.22 update.
I see posts from 5 months ago but I have occuring the same problem just now.
Sleep tracking just stopped working after the update.
I also have tried all possible manual changes but sleep tracking is completely messed up and I just can't get it working again.

  • I still have 14.68 on my Fenix 7XSS and sleep tracking is working fine still, I refuse to update to 16.22 or any other release until Garmin guarantee its stability, I reverted from 15.7x back to 14.46 due to the amount of issues.
