Activity Profiles Go Missing

I did recently reset the watch. Since then, various sports have disappeared from my favorites. running, walking, climbing, and many others are missing from the list. they also disappeared from garmin connect. resetting helps for about 2 days. then they disappear again. for it  I have a lot of duplicates with the same name. fenix 7ss 14.68 . can anyone advise what to do?

  • Same here, activity (sports) profiles disappear from favourites, and disappear completely off the watch altogether, not available in add...and some are even duplicated....one of the reasons I' reverted back to 13.22, to many bugs.

  • Maybe the working watch after restoring the backup of clean set-upped watch was my reward for previous problems :-). This is my 4th F7Pro in recent time. The first had damaged steel vibrations, second had mess in OHR, third the same and finally the fourth, changed by service center, seems OK except for these SW issues... To be honest, I was so much p***** off, that if I don´t have Varia radar, I will be testing now Suunto brand problaly. I spent hundred-times more time with trying to restore the backup and find out where the problem is, instead of setting the watch from scratch. Also the battery on previous F7Pro seemed much worse to me compared to my older F7 and also on the latest F7Pro it seems just not as good as on F7, but now this is only guess and it was only once charged... I will have to wear them together to make a compare, which I don´t want. But it´s "good" that more and more people complain about this issue, I believe it will be solved soon.

  • Unfortunately this problem (or similar one) is still not fixed for me. I have latest software on my Garmin Fenix 7 (base model) which is 16.22, and latest completely reinstalled Garmin Express for Mac in version 7.20. I had to reinstall Garmin Express because my Fenix was searching for updates (as described here - https://forums.garmin.com/apps-software/mac-windows-software/f/garmin-express/362215/garmin-express-mac-v-7-20-0-0-stays-on-checking-for-updates) and even after complete reinstallation I have a problem that all my glances are restored to default. I had this problem from the beginning of using Fenix 7. I even had it with different unit which was replaced to current one by Garmin service.

I am very tired of using this Garmin device. I just feel that I have beta device from the beginning. There is not a month where I find a bug. I am really disappointed and when it will be time to replace my Garmin, for sure I will take all this problems into consideration.

  • Update: March 28, 2024

Our engineers have indicated that this concern was resolved with SW version 15.74. However there are a few additional steps you would need to complete on the watch, if you are still experiencing this issue.

*Please note that our fix cannot restore the customized apps list/widget order if your watch has already hit this state. Once that has been affected, it's in a bad state. But this fix does prevent this issue from occurring again in the future.

If your watch isn't on software v15.74 or newer, please first update via Express. Once done, you can access the Developer menu to restore defaults to your App List and Widget Glances with the following steps:

    1. On the watch go to Main Menu
    2. Select System -
    3. Select About
    4. Repeatedly press the Light button - about 8 times - to open the Developer menu
    5. On the Developer menu, scroll down 5 or 6 items
    6. Select each option in turn "Restore Apps List Defaults" and "Restore Glance Defaults."
    7. You can use these two menu options to restore either menu to default selections. Once Defaults have been restored, you can then personalize these to your preferred entries
    8. It will take a few seconds for this menu selection to process and for defaults to be restored. The watch will return to the watch face after this request has been processed

*Note that "restore defaults" means that when you open the Start Menu again, it will prompt you with the "adding an app for the first time" flow.

  • It was ok until now on F7SS. But since last 2 updates I'm experiencing this issue. Currently 17.16B

  • How does resetting helps with the issue ?
You added Backup feature couple updates ago - how do I access that and restore from there?

  • Hello @RV

The back up and restore function allows you to create a back up file before resetting your watch, then restore this after. It is possible in some circumstances, to restore a problem or corrupted file with this method. So if you are planning to reset the watch to resolve a concern, I would test to see if the issue is gone, prior to restoring the backup. That way you will know if the backup causes the issue to return as well.

Using the Back Up and Restore Feature on Select Garmin Watches

  • Hello,
Have you actually used this feature or even thought about it?
Yes, it is there and works according to the description you linked to. The problem is that it is coded to hold only ONE backup - the last backup. So my watch updated, deleted my settings then later that day created an automatic backup and by doing that automatically deleted the "GOOD" backup and replaced it with current "Messed up" settings file. Face palm

  • I have been having this same issue on my FR955 for quite a while. When I try and follow the instruction above the developer menu does not have a "Restore Apps List Defaults"
