Watch ignores phone's DND rules (Fenix 7 with Samsung Galaxy S22 Plus)

I have a Fenix 7 Sapphire Solar paired with my Samsung Galaxy S22 Plus (Android) phone.

I keep my phone on DND 24/7, but my watch ignores all of the DND rules on the phone and alerts me for everything.

My phone also has exceptions set for the DND, so the notifications for certain people and apps still get through.

Is there a way to get this watch to recognize the DND rules from my phone?

I need this to work, because I currently get between 20 and 30 spam calls per day. So my watch is sending me vibration/notifications constantly all day.

  • I can only guess about an Android phone but the watch, if configured to display notifications, will display whatever the phone sends so is more likely a phone configuration issue.

  • I had a samsung smartwatch before this garmin watch and it wouldn't display the notifications that were blocked by DND on the phone.  So it's something specific to the configuration of the Garmin watch that's allowing them to show up on the watch.

  • I don’t think you can compare a Samsung watch/phone combination (or Apple Watch/iphone) as these as tiightly integrated.  My understanding is the Garmin  has no idea what the phones DND settings for various messages are. It is up to the phone to respect its own settings and not send messages out to external devices. Otherwise Garmin needs to integrate into the DND systems of all phone types and OS systems. I’m more than happy to find out this is wrong but I still think it is an issue with how your phone is set up.  Not having a Samsung phone I’ll step back and let someone else hopefully help you.
