Cant disable Notification "no wifi telephony possible" vodafone

Hi,

unfortunately, my mobile phone provider is Vodafone. And with Vodafone you can't disable the phone notification "no wifi telephony possible". Not such a big deal, on the smartphone you just can set it silent. But I always get this notification on my watch. Even when I set “block this app” on the watch, it will work only for a random time. After this, I will get the notifications again on the watch.

When I check the notifications in the Garmin connect app, I can't see which from which “app” I could get this annoying notifications. I can disable the notifications for Telephone, but that won't change anything.

At the moment, I have completely disabled wifi-telephony because I don't want to be disturbed ten times per day with this watch notification.

Maybe someone has an idea?

  • If your Vodaphone Android phone is uniquely setup in the sense that the "No WiFi Telephony Possible" message is coming directly from special programming Vodaphone adds to their phones, there will be no means of blocking it.

    In this forum thread, Vodaphone "turned it off" for the customer and it resolved the issue of the phone pushing the message to the watch:

  • Hi Chris, you marked your answer as solution. But it doesn't solve the problem. The Vodafone Telefonsupport doesn't know about this problem. And here can you see (in german) that, it's nothing that Vodafone could or can change:

    It seems more a Problem from specific Phone Brands. Like here Samsung or in my case Google. Maybe it's also important to know, that I don't have a Vodafone branded Phone, it's just the provider.

    It's also not the Problem that the Phone informs me about the circumstances. It's only annoying that I can't set the watch quiet.

  • I am sorry you have the issue but it is not our supported Garmin Connect Mobile software that is creating or causing the error message to be repeatedly sent to your watch. It is a certainly a frustrating situation you are dealing with but it is 100% outside of our own control to stop your phone software causing it. We cannot control or manipulate your phone's operating system or any unique software that sounds like it might originate with the cellular telecom company providing service. My sincere apologies there is not a means to block it.

    I wish you the best in trying to get your phone to stop generating the error message.

  • no worries. I hope my answer wasn't unkind. It's more like I don't understand how it actually works. I know that the messages are from the phone itself and not caused from the Garmin app. But I mean there must be a channel in which the Garmin app receive this notification and sends it to the watch. Even when I disable everything, what looks like system or phone it still receive it. There must be something invisible what we can't deactivate.

  • Sorry for dragging up this old thread. Is there a way for Garmin Connect to filter these notifications from being presented on the watch? The main issue is that the notifications that come via the Phone System system app cannot be blocked by disabling the app in Garmin Connect as Connect does not show the app. Should I create new thread?
