New Fenix activity profiles not syncing to Strava

I am utilizing the new activity profiles specific to the Fenix 7 line and more, specifically the Motocross activity profile recently added.

It is not auto syncing to Strava. I have tried a bunch of different tests and normal activities (mtb/hikes/etc) still sync fine. Figured it would just categorize it as a “Workout” on Strava like always.

Anyone seeing similar issues?

  • This is an issue for Strava, not Garmin - they need to set it.. same thing happens with new watches..I also doubt Strava will absorb ATV profiles as they are only likely to use ‘human propulsion’ activities..

  • Its likely that Strava is ignoring it intentionally as its not really a sport activity.

  • Here is the reply from Strava:

"Thanks for writing in and sorry for the activity syncing troubles. Garmin recently updated which activity types are synced to Strava.

The Garmin Connect developer API program has been aligned to its original health and wellness intent to focus on health, wellness and primary sports (run, walk, bike, etc.) The change to non-primary sports activities such as flying, motorsports, horseback riding, RC drone, etc. means that you will need to export those activities from your device and manually upload them to Strava.

The best option at this time is to export the original from Garmin Connect and upload it to Strava from our upload page. Let me know if you have any questions."

This seems stupid. Just categorize any activities that are not native to Strava as Workout as they always have. Cancelling my Strava sub...

I would argue that both indoor and outdoor Motocross gets my heart rate up a lot fkin higher than a "walk"

  • This is an ignorant reply. Heart rate maxes at 197-200 and average heart rate is around 170 for a 10 minute track session. The G forces you experience are tremendous on landings and take offs, like you're constantly doing squats and wall sits. Constantly squeezing the 250lb machine with your quads to make sure it stays in control, standing most of the time, controlling with your arms to make sure the beast stays in control through the many jumps, whoops, braking bumps, ruts, tha, along with the bike's suspensions, t all want to knock you off the bike like a bull. Easily one of the most physically demanding sports out there.
