Race event still showing in race widget in Garmin Fenix 7 despite deleting it from calendar

Hi I am having issues deleting a race event from the race calendar widget on my garmin watch despite it being deleted in the app. I have also tried turning off the watch back on and off.

This is annoying because obviously no longer running the race but also my daily suggested workouts are still based on that event.

Any help here?

  • I've just deleted an event from my Calendar in iOS GCM and it was gone from the watch Race Calendar when I checked a few moments later. I also created a new event and that one synced following a forced sync. Are you certain the watch synced the data? What iOS and phone?

  • I had the exact same issue when they first brought out the race feature (I think was on Fenix 6).. I raised it in the forum at the time, and raised a bug report in the beta forum, but heard nothing and my event date passed so dropped off.. clearly whatever caused it was never fixed…

  • . clearly whatever caused it was never fixed

Did you not read my post?

The OP might have a problem but that does not mean the issue was not resolved. As is often the case, some have problems, others do not.

  • My issue is indeed not resolved. I have the exact same issue as Robert Sterling. Its definitely a bug. I am able to add other races on my calendar and remove them but for some reason this one race cannot simply be deleted on my race widget even though I no longer have it on my calendar.

  • Hey RobertSterling. I have the exact same issue. Looks like this bug is still there. I guess I will just wait till the date passes like you did.

  • My issue is indeed not resolved.

I never said your issue was resolved. I said

The OP might have a problem but that does not mean the issue was not revolved

If you want a fix for your problem sooner rather than later contact Garmin Support directly with details of your watch firmware, phone and OS. Garmin Support will help you work out why it's not working for you and raise a bug for attention if necessary.

  • Hi, this bug is reproducible as follows. Pair the watch with Garmin Connect mobile app. Create a race event, sync with watch, it appears in the watch. Unpair the watch and then remove the event from the calendar in Garmin Connect. Pair the watch again. The event remains in the watch and AFAIK there is no way how to delete it.

  • I’ve just done this including removing the pairing and then re-pairing. The removal of the event from the watch was not as quick as when not unpaired but once the syncing finished the event was removed from the watch.
I do have a couple of events on my watch one of which is the Primary. Are people having the problem trying to remove a Primary Event? Another thought, has this happened after a change of phones? Has this happened after removing and reloading GCM?

  • I did read your post, but what you are suggesting makes no sense.. IFAIK they never fixed my bug, it was never resolved in the beta phase, only dropped off well into the public release due to time, not software.. which suggests they didn’t fix it.. someone else has the exact same bug, which suggests 2 things..

    1. They never looked into it

    2. they looked into it, but never actually fixed it

regardless, an identical bug still remains on the system to pop up at random…you correctly point out that sone people have problems, some don’t, but you seem to suggest that because you don’t, even after various tests they must have fixed it, which clearly they don’t because it still exists and is replicable..

  • To the OP - or anybody who actually has the problem and not someone just talking about it:

If you want a fix for your problem sooner rather than later contact Garmin Support directly with details of your watch firmware, phone and OS. Garmin Support will help you work out why it's not working for you and raise a bug for attention if necessary.
