I recently purchased the Fenix 7X Pro Sapphire Solar, specifically for the battery life and versatility with different types of workouts.
I had a long ultra I was signed up for and didn't want to have to worry about recharging my watch (I ended up needing to eventually), but most important, I wanted a single file that displayed the entire course. However, things didn't turn out as expected.
I started the ultra run activity at the beginning of the race, but with a big climb at the beginning I kept getting the auto rest. After a few miles of that continuously kicking in, I switched it to manual. The rest feature doesn't work. You still get the GPS drift that plagues so many watches whereas sitting still continues to rack up mileage. This was a 200+ mile race and I have at least a dozen miles when I was literally sitting still or even sleeping (took just of 4 days to finish). So while the rest thing did not work, I knew I could at least look at the data and see the route, elevation, and all the other things and then even modify the data before uploading to Strava.
I was wrong! Although the watch shows the continuous activity, the Connect App does not. It shows it as dozens of MoveIQ events that aren't helpful in any way when it comes to reviewing (or posting) activities. The "event" only exists on my watch and I can't even figure out how to download that file manual (outside of connect app).
Has anyone else run into this? Any suggestions? I'd like to think my expensive investment isn't a mistake, but I know other comparable watches don't have this same issue...so it's kinda seeming like it is. Anyone from Garmin actually here?
