Is there any reason to not use the maps on an Edge 1040?

On his website linked above he says (quote):

„If you want a more detailed map for the Alps on the Fenix, then you can also buy the TOPO TransAlpine+ PRO from Garmin for ~ 150 €, which I advise against, because these maps are based on "official" map material and contain numerous errors (paths lead into gorges, do not exist, the actual paths are missing). You have the problem with various paid cards..“

first try the original maps from Freizeitkarte_OSM: http://www.freizeitkarte-osm.de/

if you habe problems with colours or contrast try other typ files: http://www.freizeitkarte-osm.de/garmin/en/design.html or try mine, because they are customizied version of these maps

Hi, thank you very much for restarting your great map project. Until you stopped your project last year I was a fan of your project and downloaded maps regularly. Now I got the new Fenix 7x pro and love the new detailled Topo Active Europe maps from Garmin with the new shaded contours / outline, although they're not perfectly shown on the Fenix, due to the display resolution.

So, what is different in comparison to your customized maps? The details? The colors or the contrast?

      Thank you

same as before. It was all about details from the beginning, better visibility of the peaks, ferry routes and so on.

      Hi Irving01,

See these fotos and guess which map is from Garmin .

I personally cannot understand wgy people use the garmin default maps which have so little details and information.

As you can see: shades are there

Hi Andre, I used your typfile for my Fenix with the Freizeitkarte for my hut trekking in the alps, and it was perfect for navigating. Besides, I went the "Via Alta Idra" in the Tessin (Switzerland) with all of the 11 stages. It was over 100km hiking and climbing between 1900m and 2700m and almost 9000m total ascent with mindblowing views over the alps. I can really recommend this one :-)
