Inaccurate algorithm for climbing floors up and no inline skate activity

My Garmin Fenix 7S is not accurate. It shows climbing floors during everyday activities, such as washing hair, etc. And sadly disappointing that there is no free inline skating activity available as it is a popular and one of basic activity. Is it possible to fix these two issues?

  • If you want to avoid confusing the altimeter by water entering the pressure sensor port, I recommend removing the watch while washing your hair. Which is recommended anyway, since soap, shampoo and other chemicals harm the watch, and over a longer time may lead to a loss of weathertightness. Alternatively, you could also disable the altimeter by setting it into the "barometer" mode. while you are indoors and do not climb any floors.

Otherwise, if you have problems with counting the floors while really climbing floors, then you can check the following tips: What's the secret to tracking stairs accurately?

As for the inline skating, I recommend requesting it from Garmin through the form at Share Ideas | Garmin. In the meantime you can either use a Connect IQ app, or logging it as any other similar activity (for example cycling or running), and changing the type of activity to Inline Skating later in Garmin Connect.

  • But be aware that IQ apps will not record in the background, like Fenix models before the 7 did, until Garmin fixes that.
