Sleep Tracking on Fenix 7X SS is COMPLETELY BROKEN. Garmin, this needs to be fixed.

Guys, this is a $1,000 smartwatch. This is your flagship device.

Sleep Tracking is completely broken. This is a basic smartwatch feature, that just does. not. work. on your $1,000 device.

It thinks I've been asleep for 117 hours "today," because sleep tracking never ends regardless of activities, or motion detection, or absolutely anything. Resetting does nothing.

It's broken.

  • Your problem has already been addressed by Garmin Support:

Did you adjust your sleep window as requested?

And, why start a second thread about the same issue?

  • I started a second thread because the first one was not resolved. Why are you being rude to your customers looking for basic support?

This is not an acceptable solution. The ENTIRE POINT of the sleep tracking feature is that it intelligently detects when the user is asleep or awake.

When the Garmin software thinks a user has slept for 117 hours, it is broken. This should not be something it even thinks is possible.

Telling your users that they have to MANUALLY tell the device when they sleep (I'm a truck driver, my sleep schedule is all over the place) is ridiculous. Why don't I just write down the time I wake up on a sticky note, that's the same thing.

The entire point of sleep tracking is to digitally track sleep. If a $1,000 Garmin smartwatch can't figure out when the user is sleeping and when they are active, I'll likely return it to REI for a full refund and buy an Apple.

Don't make your customers fix your own broken products.

I have to be honest, the attitude shown by Garmin customer support is really disappointing. You guys act like the customer who spent thousands of dollars on your brand is the problem and talk down to them, when it's YOUR JOB to make your product work.

You're telling customers to do technical troubleshooting involving uploading specific files from within the watch's filesystem for basic smartwatch features like sleep tracking which should work out of the box.

I've spent about $5,000 on Garmin products over the years (since the 1990s) and you should seriously drop the attitude and just focus on solving problems. Will look at Apple.

    You're telling customers to

I do not know if you have noticed that you are here in a public USER-USER forum ? This is not a support channel. Lol

  • I have tried their official support channel, they go days without replying.

  • I started a second thread because the first one was not resolved.

A second thread about it certainly doesn't contribute to more attention. On the contrary. It makes the concentration on your problem decrease.

I think that some on this forum have certainly spent more money on Garmin products during this time.

If the priority of the problems were rated according to this, my problems would be rated higher than yours ;) lol

You are not my customer.  I am not Garmin.  As a felow user, I'm trying to understand why you are having such a hard time following the advice of Garmin support.

You have - sometime, somehow - already manually adjusted your sleep time to 12:00 noon and your wake time to 8:00 AM.  All that Garmin Support is asking you to do is set this to something more reasonable.

Just do it and stop whining.

If you want an Apple, just buy one.

A product is not "broken" if the User is not willing to learn how to use it.

Honestly, I hope you find a watch that suits your needs, but it is certainly not MY responsibility to make sure that happens.

  • I'm having the exact same issue as you and you're absolutely right. I sleep during the day because I work at night and I've run into this problem for the longest time because of how flawed the sleep tracking system is. They need to rethink the whole process and have it revolve around when you have the sleep mode on or something and not set sleep time windows that break when you normally sleep during the day.

  • No issue for me. I work shifts, days and nights. My sleep time is setup to 22.00pm to 8.00am everyday and no problem when I'm coming home from night shift and going sleep at cc 7.30 am till 14.00pm. Sleep recording working for me as it should.

  • Same here the sleep tracking is accurate. I have configured sleep mode to a set schedule, so there's that.
