Fenix 7X SS Garmin Express Software vs Watch Software Version

I recently purchased my first Garmin, the Fenix 7X SS. I've had nothing but problems trying to download watch faces or apps due to an issue.

When trying to install a watch face or app, the Connect IQ store says "To get the latest version of this app, you must update your fenix 7X Sapphire Solar in Garmin Express."

I've tried everything. I spent a considerable amount of time on the phone with Garmin customer service trying to troubleshoot. Hit the Reddit threads for answers (that got me into Beta and from software version 7.3 to 10.44), - and even after getting into the Beta Wiki and downloading & copying over the latest software version 13.22 into the Garmin folders on the computer, - the Garmin Express application still says that I'm on 10.44 version of software & I'm "up to date."

My watch is 13.22, computer is 10.44. I'm at a loss of why it doesn't update the computer when I plug it in to sync with Garmin Express and how even after pasting the software files into the correct folders given from the Beta that it refuses to move past 10.44, while my watch is at 13.22

So I'm stuck and can't install much of anything on my phone that is data rich. Only the simplest of watch faces that come with the watch as is.

Long press the middle left button until you see the setting MENU. Scroll down to System. Select System and scroll down to Software Update. Select Software Update and make sure Auto Update is togged ON. If there is an update waiting to be installed, select Install Now. If no update is available, select Check for Updates.

Often updates are "staged" on the watch without being installed. Garmin Express sees the staged (but not installed) update and will indicate the older software version with the Up to Date message - confusing, but expected.

I’ve done that a few times now, and even hard factory reset and then installed latest software, which is the 13.22 on watch.

Just can’t get the Garmin Express to move the needle so IQ won’t let me do anything.

Try removing the watch from Express and then re-adding it.

If that doesn't work try uninstalling Express and reinstalling it.

Neither one is especially painful.

Thanks for the reply. Tried both of these as well.
Went ahead and did it all again, for S’s & G’s, just in case, still the same - Express 10.44, Watch 13.22.

if you have not already done so try downloading a fresh version of GE and installing that after completely removing the other. If still no good contact Garmin Support.

Keep updating through the watch I had to update mine 6 times every time I went in to check for updates it updated

I checked garmin connect then to see and all was available

Keep down loading the software from the system, toggle on the watch. I had to download software six times before, connect would Work. Every time I went into check for new software there were something new to download until eventually, connect worked

I just bought one today and it’s doing the same thing .watch says I’m on the latest software .but yes it says it’s not up to date and can’t download anything like Spotify .ive tried everything and spent 6 hours trying to get it going .im about to take it back for a refund and go get a ultra watch .did you manage to figure it out ??
