F7xpro vs F7x battery life

  • Per Garmin website,  under specs, same battery life,Multiband/solar. It seems that only Epix2 got the Enduro2 battery, which evens it out with 7x Sapphire. You get the shinier screen, better HR, Flashlight.  Worth the extra coin for same fundamentals of actual need?

Cheers,

Bob

Yeah, kinda makes no sense, though was willing to try better looking maps. The extra solar helps out when I'm out at sea or on the mountain (though solar vs cold drainage evens it out). Maybe F8 comes with at least Enduro 2 battery,  and then some. 7x Sapphire only gripe is the actual Sapphire fine scratching from some soap finger rubbed after pool swimming. But now, Sammy S22Ultra which has Gorilla Glass 2, supposedly more scratchresistant got a fine line at the beach, from sand.

I use to put a screen protector on 6x,5, though it took the clarity and beauty of the screen.

Black Friday coming, is we see some discounts on Pro/2nd gen...

Yes only the Epix Pro 51mm got the Enduro battery, the 7X Pro didn't.

But no, that doesn't really even it out with the 7X Sapphire. It's only about 1/3 the battery life when you compare apples to apples (always on display turned on for both watches). You have to make sacrifices (turning off AOD) on the Epix to get 7X-like battery life. Which may not sound like a big sacrifice, but honestly I hate having AOD turned off. It sucks, I would only do it in an emergency.

That being said, I'm not bashing the Epix, not at all. I've actually got both a 51mm Epix Pro and a 7X Sapphire, and the Epix is the one I pretty much always wear - I love it. I just wanted to make an honest point about your battery life comment, to manage people's expectations about it.

And as someone who owns both the 7X sapphire and the Epix Pro 51mm, if I had to choose only one to keep, it would probably be the Epix, purely because the map functionality is waaaaay, way better than the Fenix. It's so much better, that it trumps the battery life issue. At least for me.

Wow!!! I kinda thought so. Never had a real smart watch othe than Forunner or Fenix. I go long and rugged, so F7x may be t he right one for me. Enduro's green buttons throw me off. It's funny I still see people w wearing 3, 5 Fenix, yet all loving them.

  • Just FYI. I also thought that green buttons were ugly when looking at photos on internet but when I saw it in person I completely changed my mind. It’s very nice subtle color.
