Fenix 7 idle time trail running

Hello, maybe someone can help.....

I mainly use my fenix 7 for trail running and I get weird datas in "idle" time when i review stats after my activities. Example: this weekend I completed a 2 hours and 40 min trail, final timing was divided in 1 hr  "running", 1 hr 24 minutes walking and 22 minutes "idle".

I'm a lazy a$$ but I did not idle for 20 minutes, I am positively sure about it...I am sure i moved (at different paces clearly) for the whole 2 hrs and 40 minutes.

Maybe it's my fault and I am setting something wrong, any idea?

Thanks!!!

  • I'd look at the Run/Walk plot and see if the idle times coincide with tight switchbacks or some feature of the trail that doesn't move too far outside a certain area that the watch thinks you are standing still.

  • Building of what  said, what was your GNSS set up for trail running and were in dense forest or tight cliffs overhead?

  • Hello Both and thanks for your replies.

@dan.boiler I was indeed in a forest with switchbacks but not all the time and some of the idle moment do not coincide with being covered by trees.
@andrew my GNSS setup for trail running is on "All Systems"

Another thing that I have noticed, even when training on roads (selecting running under activities) is that it takes quite a few seconds for the watch to get my speed right: if I am doing fartleks and the hard speed section is less than a minute it will hardly get to the speed I am really doing...it looks like ti is really updating my speed (min per Km) slowly. I hope I am making myself clear.

I have now tried switching GNSS to all+multi band, let's see if it improves.....
