v13.22 software - Fast Battery Drain Experienced

Hello folks,

With the upgrade to 13.22 my Fenix 7 Solar (Garmin Connect iOS) consumes 12% battery per day, after cold start. With 11.28 the watch needed 6-8% per day without sun and activities.

It's a pity.

For me 30% down in 3 days with 3 hrs of GPS activities. No significant change from 11.28 or any earlier firmware.

Let your watch run out of battery then charge it to 100 percent. Once it’s fully charged reset your watch by holding the light button for 10 or 20 seconds. Once you turn it back on go to setting then check…

it seems to me like a standard failure of garmin - slowly but surely the release of the garmin fenix 8 is approaching, so we will increase the battery consumption.. I observed the same problem on the fenix 6x, then upgraded to the 7x.

If it was a conspiracy on Garmin's part, would it not then be the same for all of us? I have used my Edge 830 to record activities over the last couple days rather than as as extended display and with basically everything turned on on the Fenix 7 apart from 24hr Pulse Ox I am at 88% after 2d 5hr since charge.

Switch off the "auto discover" in sensors & accessories menu and the battery consumption looks normal the last 8 hours

Once you turn it back on go to setting then check for updates let it sync and then it should be back to normal. I had same issues with my fenix 7. Once I done that my watch has been working fine

That's one of the things I did with 11.28. It did not help. What did help was installing 13.22. I haven't had any battery problems since then.

This is exactly what I done yesterday.

I followed 6328715's procedure.

Watch was fully charged at 10:00pm.

Today, at 8:00pm, battery was at 99%.

Since 9:00pm, 98%

I am finding a fast battery drain, I have tried all the usual things like a full charge, power on and off but no joy.

The main issue for me is when doing exercise it would normally be 1% to 3% down whereas now it is double. Overnight drain is a little higher than normal but nothing out of the ordinary

I also noticed similar battery behavior for fenix 7XSS - during activity the battery usage is twice as high as before. In watch mode it is also slightly higher, but certainly not twice.
I checked if it matters if I use Stryd or not but it turned out that it doesn't matter - the battery usage is about twice as high. It also doesn't seem to matter if it's an activity with or without GPS on.
