According to Ray the following software features will also come to the current Fenix 7 models

I'm going to order an Epix Pro 51mm. Keeping my 7XSS as well, but most likely going to switch to the Epix for 95% of my usage - makes for a nicer display day to day, and substantially better mapping…
In DCR's youtube video he mentioned that he can "sort of" see an improvement in the new MIP display, but he didn't make it sound like the difference was very substantial.
It’s strange to me that the 7X SS, 7X SS Pro, and enduro 2 are all in simultaneous production with very little differentiation.
The key difference between the 7X Pro and the 7X and Enduro 2 is the optical sensor cluster. The battery life of the 7X Pro is unchanged over the enduro 2. There are no actual feature differences today that will not land on all 3 devices other than possibly better oHR or hypothetical new oHR sensor features that have not been unlocked which may be tied to the f8/e3 generation.
The battery range difference between the 7X and 7X pro is 0-20% in most modes with the epix 2 51mm.
The 7X is selling at a $200 discount. The 7X Pro and enduro 2 are about the same.
The enduro 2 has a 23% larger battery capacity than the 7X and 7X pro. To me the differentiating factor of the MIP-based devices has to be battery range. Therefore the 7X pro being released without the larger battery capacity of the enduro 2 is a miss.
If you have a fenix 7X there is very little reason to upgrade to a 7X Pro but I could understand why someone would upgrade to an enduro 2 for range or an epix 2 pro 51mm for the display.
If you are a fenix 3-6X owner who has waited for the 7X SS price to come down then a 7X SS discounted is now a great upgrade.
the reflection of sapphires has always bothered me a lot.
I have enduro 2 but would switch to F7x pro for less reflexes.
However, it seems that the standard f7x pro solar (non sapphire) is no better.
I had the standard f6x pro and the MIP display was a great thing
I use maps a lot.
but 'I also swim in open water and outdoor pool.
I've read a lot of complaints about the Epix that the arm rotation doesn't work underwater while swimming and the screen stays dark all the time.
you have to stop to read.
and you cannot use it as a fixed navigator on the bike handlebar
Well if they ever switch the base of the tactix to the epix (not likely) I'd be all in. Otherwise I'm just sitting here waiting patiently for the tactix 8 to wow me 6 months or so from now

Those are legitimate concerns for sure. I don't bike or swim, so it's a moot issue for myself, but that's definitely something to think about for swimmers and bikers who want to use a handlebar mount.
His buddy DesFit seemed to be impressed. Will be interesting to see further info from both.
"Fortunately" REI still doesn't have these in stock yet so I'll likely get to see a whole bunch more firsthand reviews and videos about it before I'm ever able to get my hands on one myself
I could buy one from Garmin website of course, but I've got like $400 in store credit to burn at REI so I'd rather wait til they have one to sell me. Besides, my 7XSS will hold me over just fine while I wait haha
For me, the MIP screen on F6 Sapphire was perfect. I miss mine!
As the matter of fact I trust in his review more.
Don’t know why your comment get downvotes. This is sad but true, their responsiveness in fixing bugs is freaking slow.
