Can you set up a custom screen for broadcasting heart rate?

I'm broadcasting my heart rate and I want to set up a custom data screen on my fenix 7, but I can't figure out how. Note that I'm not running an activity on my watch while broadcasting - I'm simply sending the HR to another device. The default display shows heart rate with a very small time of day at the bottom. If I bring up my normal watch face when broadcasting the HR, it will always revert to the broadcast HR screen within a minute or two.

  • There is no option to customize the screen.

  • Given the level of customization provided by the fenix 7, that's a surprising answer. Some quick thoughts:

    a) It seems like it wouldn't be difficult to add that option to the 'settings' menu on the broadcast HR screen - I assume there would need to be some consideration for the start/stop selection for broadcasting, but even a limited ability to customize the display would be good.

    b) another approach would be a setting that disables the feature that the broadcast HR screen will be put back over the watch face. Or add a setting that enables/disables/toggles between them.

    c) on the broadcast HR screen, enable the up.menu/down buttons so I can manually toggle between the HR screen and the watch face. This seems like it would be super easy to implement.

Note that I'm aware that I might be the only person who has asked about this - I didn't see any other questions about this on the forum. But I'm surprised by that. When broadcasting my HR, I'm performing some activity where I can't stare at my watch and try to see the small TOD data on the default screen.

  • You can always create a custom activity and enable broadcast HR. Then you can create whatever custom screens you want.

  • Verified the behavior on a bike ride today connected to my Edge 530 and then again not connected to a device. My fenix 7 is running version 11.28. When I broadcast the HR and then switch back to the watch face, the watch returns back to the default broadcast HR screen after 10 minutes. It’s very consistent. There’s definitely a 10 minute timer on coming back to the display.
