Navigate Use Map builds a weird route with direct line back to the current location

I've got Fenix 7 with the latest Software version (11.28) and routable OpenStreetMap onboard. Since some recent software updates it started to build a weird route whenever I select the "Use Map" option in the Navigate app.

It correctly computes the route to the destination point but for some reason, it also adds a direct line from the destination point to my current location. So basically instead of "current location -> route -> destination point" it builds "current location -> route -> destination point -> direct line -> current location". And this is not just a graphical bug, it also affects Distance to Destination value which is now calculated as route length + direct line length.

Hi, I have the same issue. Have some talk with support (Garmin - Chris) and he confirmed - bug known and they are working on the solution.

Got general reply “most of bugs repaired in next software update”.

Hope in next quartal upgrade will be solved

Btw, do you know, is there some open bug ticket for this issue?

Hi, don’t know if ticket, bud I got a PM from Garmin staff - he confirms, that “working on it to correct it”.

Having the same problem. On reddit someone said that navigating with touch to select your destination seemed to be part of the issue. Using the buttons (pan/zoom) instead to select where you want to route to is a work around. Hopefully this will be fixed in the update.

bad news is that beta update 13.15 still has same issue. thanks for the tip about using buttons rather than touch.

I noticed this 'there and back' bug again yesterday when I selected a point on the map during a 'run' activity and used 'go' to navigate to the point. That was using software version 14.something

Today I applied the software update to go to Version 15.68 and then when I tried later today to use the 'go to coordinates on the map' the 'there and back' problem wasn't there anymore.

However, I'm not sure if it is consistent. I could have sworn that the first time I tried after the update that the problem was there but ever since it seems not to have been. Maybe fixed?
