Training Load Focus and Events

When I add some events in my calendar like a Marathon or a half marathon - then my daily suggested workouts will train me for this events.

But what about the training load focus? Is the load focus also adjusted for the type of event because a 5k needs a different adaption than a ultra marathon?

  • I don't know, but that feels correct. I loaded my primary and secondary events for 2023 into Garmin in December and have been using the Daily Suggested Workout ever since to build for my primary event (April Marathon). I'm pleased with the way it's progressed and just trusted the technology.

    At the end of last year when I was focusing on Parkruns (5K) GDSW had me doing more high aerobic and anaerobic workouts. Now I am doing much more aerobic work, particularly low.
