FW 11.28/ Bug in Backcountry Skiing App

Since FW 11.28 my Backcountry Skiing App is not changing the background color when switching from Climb to Descent mode.

Moreover, when selecting in App settings background color to White its black and when set it to black it’s white.

can anyone confirm this behavior?

Thanks, Christian

  • I can confirm the background color does not change after updating to 11.28. Also I was in auto mode tracking today testing it out and while on the map page, it was not displaying the red breadcrumb trail. I could not see my historic path regardless of climbing or descending.

The auto mode tracking is a great idea, but it needs some work. If you stop for a break while in climbing mode it seems to switch to a transition counter after 30 seconds and then once you starting climbing again after the break, it resets the climb timer and starts climb 2, for example. I also noticed that there were a few portions of my GPS track that are missing, when I review in Garmin Connect, and they seem to be after I stopped for a break and then started moving again on a flatter portion of the skin track. It didn't seem to register that I was moving again until I began climbing more steeply. It's almost as if it is basing the transition first off of stopping GPS movement and then only starting again based off of a change in elevation.

First pic is showing the missing portions of the GPS track circled in purple. Second pic is showing the missing red track even though I had covered over 4 miles.

  • Hi Christian,

Did you manage to resolve this issue? I am having the exact same problem. The background color of the data screens is exactly inverted.

    Best,

    Richard

  • Hi Richie,

started into new ski touring season today and issue still persists. Seems no one from Garmin was interested to fix it during the summer :-/
