After sunset backlight doesn't turn off at sunrise

I have set backlight to activate on wrist gesture (general use) after sunset. Activation worked fine at sunset.

Sunrise was at 7:05 AM local time and current time is 7:21 AM; the backlight still activates on wrist gesture.

I am using 7X non-Sapphire, sw v11.28, time zone is GMT +2 (Eastern Europe time).

LE: I have tried the following:

Turned Wrist gesture after sunset off. The backlight stopped.

Turned Wrist gesture after sunset on again. Although it is after sunrise, the backlight started working again.

It seems sunrise is not correctly applied for this setting, or it may be following sunrise on a different time zone.

Thanks for the heads up, that thread was not shown as a related topic.

I have also restarted the watch and the backlight stopped activating. The correct backlight behavior was either triggered by the restart (which means there is still a minor implementation bug) or perhaps I unawarely restarted it right at cutoff time.

The sun event times could be off if you don't have a recent GPS fix (sunrise-sunset times are acquired via GPS); try starting an activity, wait for "GPS Ready", then exit the activity (no need to save it, you can just discard it).

The "After sunset" setting is in effect 30 minutes before actual sunset until 30 minutes after sunrise - this is somewhat confusing, a bit wasteful on battery, and not actually correct from the astronomical point of view, but is the way that the Garmin Gods decided to implement it (reasoning given in the thread from my previous post).

Thirty minutes before/after is as good as any. It’s a bit dramatic to suggest the setting would significantly impact battery life.
