Back button getting stuck

Hi - I got my Fenix 7 (Saphire Solar) a few weeks back. I have done 2 pool swims after that and my back button gets stuck every time. Is this a common problem? Is there any solution other than warm water + repeated clicking after every swim?

  • You can use a non grease electrical silicon spray on the button .. Works a treat...

  • have same problem on my fr955, discovery anything to fix ?

  • - I had/have the same issue on my Fenix 7 (standard model). It took a few months of swimming 1-2x per week on my first device that I purchased last June before I started experiencing the stuck back/lap button. Sometimes the button would get stuck, other times the screen would scroll uncontrollably after a swim. Garmin replaced it, and on my 2nd swim with device #2 my back/lap button got stuck. I did everything Garmin suggested (rinsing the watch after every swim, soaking it in warm water multiple times, etc.), which was ridiculous maintenance. I managed it for a while until I hit a one-week period where no amount of rinsing, soaking, or repeated clicking would fix the issue; the back/lap button wouldn't work in or out of the pool. Garmin just sent me my 3rd device.

I wore a 920xt for 6 years 24/7, swam in pools/oceans/lakes, never rinsed the watch, and never experienced stuck buttons. I have to imagine this is either a design flaw or manufacturing defect, but the Garmin representative I spoke with didn't acknowledge any known issues. I don't hold much hope that device #3 will be any different.

I won't trust this watch in a race. Wish I had better news for you!

  • Hey , I have had thus same issue with my fenix ,after a few swims in pool started to do sam thing as Your Watch watch! I did soaking couple of times and was OK but recently that happed again!! So frustrating!  With My old 735xt I haven't had any problems!

  • Hi - I have same problem my Fenix 7 (Saphire Solar) I bought last year in Dubai. I have done couple of pool swims after that and my back button gets stuck every time. I rinse but each time it the same button so for me it meana that that button is faulty. Garmin Forums I hope this can be fixed. The main reason I bought this watch for durability, even though I use it with great care, I think this should not be happening.

  • I ended up getting my fenix 7 exchanged when this happened to me. It was quite straightforward
