Feature Improvement Request: Clear All Notifications

Clear all notifications...?

This is pretty standard on other watches.

Is this feature missing or am I missing the trick to do it?

Clearing each notification 1x1 makes this watch feel very basic. (Fenix Sapphire 7x Solar)

  • Thank you for taking the time to give a feature suggestion. Please also go to our Ideas page to submit it. Thank you! We appreciate it.

  • I have submitted the same feature request years back (3 or even more), it was obviously not considered to be important :) Hopefully your submission will be more fruitful than mine, keeping fingers crossed!

  • Hopefully! There are a few threads about it also - seems like pretty baseline functionality........very surprised it is not already there.

  • Throwing this out there... It might not even be possible. For example, think about the process involved on your smartphone to clear all text messages. Now think about the process of deleting a message. The request sounds simple, logical, and a great idea. Whether or not our engineering team is even allowed to integrate into iOS or Android by Apple or Google to that level, may be the most likely explanation as to why it has never happened.

Thanks again for the suggestion. We appreciate it.

  • Hi Chris,

that explanation unfortunately does not sound right. On the watch I am able to dismiss a notification, which most likely execute particular code that sends a command to the phone. What prevents your engineers to do that in a loop for every notification that is currently on the watch, when a button "Dismiss All" is pressed? Obviously a "one time command for all" would be a better solution, but even if this is not possible, there is still a way to dismiss all notifications at once, even if this means an "automation" for every single one that is currently showing. In fact Garmin Connect is "hooked" inbetween, so the app can take care to execute the "Dismiss All" code on its end, by dismissing all the notifications that are visible on the watch.

The problem with the notifications is that there might be cases where a lot of them are arriving on the watch. Cycling through them and dismiss every single one involves a lot of "manual" work. A "Dismiss All" option would really help!

    Bye

  • Well, clearing all notifications on the phone, clears them on the watch too. At least it works for me without any problems, both with an iPhone, as well as with an Android phone. Isn't that sufficient, or it does not work for you?

  • that explanation unfortunately does not sound right.

I could be wrong - I am certainly not an engineer but even the most simple suggestion is seldom if ever easy to program and the point I am making is that Apple and Google dictate how we interface and what we can do. That is why you can respond with a quick message if you are using an Android phone but you cannot respond at all when using an iPhone. etc etc...

  • That works, yes, but the use case here is a different one. At least for me one of the MAIN benefits of receiving notifications on the watch is to NOT being forced to put out my phone (where ever it might be). Dismissing a large amount (5+) notifications from the watch is cumbersome because it includes a lot of pressing and waiting... It would be much simpler to have 1 option "Dismiss All".

Agreed. I wear the mineral blue Fenix 7X Solar watch and I would appreciate the option too.
