Fenix 7 - Randomly Shuts Down

Have had an issue that started last week Friday.

My watch switches off on its own; there is battery (when connected to charge it displays ample battery) but it’s not turning on when holding the power button or even through the soft reset/force restart. It only turns on when connected by the charger connector. When removed it either switches off instantly or will remain on then randomly turns off.

I did a factory reset and it seemed to work but then a day later it switched off again.

I have since tried resyncing on express; updated all the maps and so far its behaving but not holding my breath as it just adds this layer of will it won't it/not trusting the device.

Has anyone else experienced this? Is there anything I can do?

Sounds like hardware failure, like loose battery connection inside the watch.

I'd return it and ask for a replacement if I were you

Hey I'm facing the same issue. Did you resolve this.? Or get your watch exchanged?

Hey reached out to garmin locally, it's going in, filled RMA form. Waiting. I didn't manage to resolve it but what I noticed is that it would start shutting down as soon as the battery would hit sub 80% charge so believe it may be a faulty battery (would be significant degradation for less than 12 months of use).

Hey so I did a hard reset and my problem got resolved. I came across an article that said most fenix 7 series may encounter battery issues and a hard reset fixes it. But yeah your watch still seems to give you an issue so I hope they replace it for you. Thanks for responding :)

I have a fenix 7 solar and it hasn't even been 2 months and it went into a start up shut down cycle. Starting prompting me to setup garmin assist then would shut down. Now it's hone dark and stayed that way. For a watch that's meant to be robust, that's pretty bad. My fenix 6 was a battle lord! What can I do now? I'm on a remote island and just lost my maps and the whole reason I bought the watch....

On my side i did end up sending it through to Garmin and they did send me another. I was clear on the description what was happening and believe the issue repeated itself while it was with them.

I had given it to Garmin service centre... They told me that there is some defect... Since I had one year warranty I got it exchanged and my new watch works well with no issues.
