Fenix 7s vs. 7 aspect ratio

Trying to decide between 7 and 7s. I have a 6.5in wrist so I think either will fit but I'd prefer a smaller watch as I expect it'd be more comfortable.

But I'm wondering if the thickness of the 7s negates the smaller diameter giving it more of a "hockey puck" feel. The aspect ratios are different.

Fenix 7: 47 x 14.5 mm, aspect ratio 3.24

Fenix 7s: 42 x 14.1 mm, aspect ratio 2.97

Anyone who has tried both what do you think?

  • I've tried both in the store and yes, smaller one was bulkier because thickness is almost the same. I would go with 7, as I did. You will get bigger battery, bigger screen... If you can, try by yourself first.

  • I have a Tactix 7 Pro Ballistics Edition and had several Suunto watches before that. The Suuntos were lighter due to mostly non-metal construction and had a somewhat slimmer profile, but the T7P is every bit as comfortable. My greatest concern was sleeping with the T7P for sleep tracking, but even that hasn't been an issue. I did switch out the nylon band that is the default on the T7P for the silicone one on day one however -- the little bit of stretch and softness made it more comfortable.

Given the minimal difference in the dimensions, I doubt that you'd have a problem with the F7.

  • Silicon is more stretchable and softer than nylon?! For me is opposite, I replaced silicon came with the watch with aftermarket nylon and it's way more flexible and a bit of stretchable. Definitely more stretchable than silicon.

  • I also have 6.5" wrists. I tried on both the 7s and the 7. I ended up buying the 7s because the 7 just looked too big on my wrist to wear as my everyday watch. I have no issue with the thickness or screen size of the 7s. However, if I had planned just to wear the fenix during athletic activities (using a different watch the rest of the day), I probably would have gone with the 7.

  • Found an REI where I could try them on. The thicker band on the 7 made it more comfortable than the 7S. Aspect ratios weren't really noticable

  • I tried and eventually bought at REI as well. If you are remember, you will even get some dividend next year Slight smile

  • I have slightly smaller writes 150mm - I tried both.  I preferred the look of the fenix 7s solar sapphire, it also feels lighter.  I don't really feel get a "hockey puck" vibe with it but I could see why you would think that.

With all that said, I think at 165mm the fenix 7 would work well for you as well.

Aesthetically speaking, I don't like the exposed screws on the 7 and much prefer the 7s look without them.  I really love the dark bronze titanium bezel.

Happy to answer any other questions as I debated for quite some time between the two Slight smile

In terms of battery life, I've only had it for a while but I'm consistently getting 7-8 days with quite a few full multi-band 1hour+ runs.
