For us old guys, we can’t see the writing on a black background. PLEASE allow us to change it to white on the 7 like all the previous Fenix series!

How can we change the Fenix 7 background color from dark to light? I simply can’t read the dark background! My Fenix 5 was great, no issues w a light background. Now I can’t read a single notification or morning report or health stat. Kind of makes the watch useless!

  • Hey Garmin user mates! Maybe this post is not about your current problems but bear in mind one day you would face the same challenge as the OP... This was my motivation when clicked the like button above.

  • YES! In general, more customisation options for ALL the built in watch faces. They're the only ones to support touch shortcuts, so make them more user friendly. Switch background colours - yes. Also let us choose battery % instead of days (or the other way round - on all styles / layouts) and, by all means, please let us have wind speed and direction on the watch face, without installing any 3rd party ones for that :)

    white background and Batt %

white background and Batt days :

  • I edited the above message (to clarify ALL pre-loaded watch faces, especially the default one) you you're being picky ;) I don't use this one, not enough data here. I like the default one with a ring, where I add 2 rows with 3 data fields in each. This one has no way of showing battery % instead of days on the outter ring's fields (possible only if chart is utilized which occupies too much space). It also has no white background - back to the inconsistency with watch faces pre-loaded on Fenix. And none of the watch faces has font size / scalling settings. However I agree that white background is available for it as well.

Can you please post a photo so I know which watchface you mean.

  • Yup, here you go. The very default, as on the protective film. It comes as default and I just edit it. It has a white background option since at least a few updates (perhaps since the beginning, I can't say for sure, as I stick to the dark one). Just no way of having battery % in a smaller data field, unless we use a huge section of the screen for that, as on the last image. Battery in days is available to select both for the ring's data fields, as well as for the smaller ones inside, as on the 2nd image for example.
Still, what I mostly suffer from and why during any water activities time I switch to 3rd party watch faces, is the wind speed and direction on the watch face Disappointed

Go to the "Power Manager" settings and deactivate "Battery Estimates".

  • LOL! That's quite a trick - thank you! Smiley One thing sorted! At least a workaround (surely not a solution), as it disables estimates completely, so even when navigating through the list, we also won't see the estimate. It's not a watchface setting but a system setting which is not optimal. Especially since 3rd party watch faces have the options to show % (by default, actually estimates are more tricky for developers, like if Garmin tries to keep this more 'in-house' with their estimation algorithm) or an estimated number of operation days. It's just a matter of giving a choice, which one to display, when choosing one instead of both. Garmin decided for us, to go with an estimate, which I don't like.

I wish we could choose whether to have % or days on the watch face, without sacrificing the estimates setting completely. I appreciate the estimates, when using GPS, flashlight etc. but in normal use i prefer % and would definitely love to simply see the actual voltage, but I am a battery freak in general (all types of rechargeable cells, technologies, preserving their condition etc.), so I can tolerate Battery% as well Slight smile However, it's good that there is such a workaround to disable the estimates to see % on the default watch face. Thanks again!

Now let's wait for wind speed and direction to be added to the available data fields, as on other (3rd party) watch faces that use either Garmin Weather or Open Weather data. So weird it's not on the default one...
