Turn off gps ?

You can turn off GPS in the Battery Saver mode. Battery Saver can be indeed activated with a hot key. Assign a key combination for it in the settings

What I am looking for is a way to turn on and turn off during an activity when I just need to check my position in the map.

You can use both suggested methods for that purpose. Either use a hotkey for turning the Battery Saver on and off, or disable the GPS in activity settings, and check the position with the help of the GPS button (long-press).

Fine but I didn't find the gps option in the battery saver menu. Just watch face, music, phone Wi-Fi, CF, spO2, and back light.

In that case use the other method - disable GPS in activity's settings, and only read the position manually, after long-pressing the GPS button

... or use the Ultra Trac mode - it turns the GPS on only briefly once a minute

Will this method display the position in the map?
