10.43 - Added haptics to more places, including scrolling lists - allow customisation

Hi all.

As much as I appreciate haptic feedback in some scenarios and can understand that some people may like it added to even more places, I personally hate it!

"Added haptics to more places, including scrolling lists." from the 10.43 update

Please allow customising the haptics settings. I need to disable haptic feedback for scrolling but don't mind having it still around, as it was before (e.g. for long press confirmation for payments, triggering menus etc.). But adding haptics for scrolling without incorporating an option to disable it, whilst keeping 'old' haptics was a terrible idea. Please deliver us a fix for it ASAP.

  • Seconded with all my body, heart, soul, and mind.

  • MENU > System > Sound and Vibe > Haptics [Toggle Off]

Doesn't work to turn off haptics?

  • Please note the bold part. It's not about disabling haptics in general. Just the newly added haptics that was not there before (especially scrolling lists). Disabling haptics works and it was the first thing I did after this update. Yet I am hoping for separate haptic settings - what should and what should not provide a haptic feedback. I liked it so far for long button press confirmation etc. but I cannot stand haptics while scrolling a list with touch hence I had to switch all haptics off for now.

  • It was bad in the first beta. But in 10.43 it is so subtle I hardly feel it on my Epix. I have no problem with it now, though customization is good and if anything I would like to make it stronger (like I also have on Apple Watch). But I categorize this as accessibility settings and sorely missing in general Garmin. I would love to increase the font size for my aging eyes, especially on Epix.

  • Agree, I know many people appreciate haptics. I literally hate it, unless I specifically want it in some rare scenarios (and it's not really haptics but more like vibration confirming that a feature is on, button held long enough etc. - when not really looking at the display). But I hate any haptic feedback for touch. When I touch the screen I can't have any haptics. It makes me fill sick ever since first smartphones hit the market and I suffer badly the first configuration of each new phone until I can switch haptics off for the keyboard :D I tend to literally connect external USB keyboard only not to suffer from these few minutes of haptic feedback for using on-screen keyboard :)
And I fully agree on the font sizes or DPI scaling etc. Especially with the default watch faces, as there are yet no 3rd party watch faces with touch enabled widgets / shortcuts and the stock one has small fonts. Fine for me but I also got a 7X for my father in his sixties and he doesn't see much on the 'ring' surrounding the time. Altering proportions option there would be great, but that would fall under a different thread / feature suggestion.

  • FFS, my watch vibrated this morning when it came out of sleepmode! Which woke me up as the time I get up varies a bit throughout the week without obvious pattern. Ugh.
