Scratched Bezel = No Warranty

So i was on the phone with Garmin and i was told that if the watch receives physical damage (scratched bezel) then the warranty is automatically terminated.

Has anyone dealt with this or does anyone from Garmin Support in the US or UK can validate this ?

Regards,

Francisco

  • No, scratched bezel does NOT "void the warranty". Any valid warranty claims would remain fully covered during the warranty period, regardless if your bezel is scratched. Of course, the scratched bezel itself is NOT a valid warranty claim.

  • This was never the point of not paying, this is cosmetic damage and i will have to deal with it and i will pay the price for the swap that was never the issue at hand.

The issue was the explanation given by the support.

    Consumer Limited Warranty

First of all they are widely diferent and its not my interpretation in either case but specially on the UK one that.

    "Warranty Coverage
This Garmin product is warranted to be free from defects in materials or workmanship for two years from the date of purchase. Within this period, Garmin will, at its sole option, repair or replace any components that fail in normal use. Such repairs or replacement will be made at no charge to the customer for parts or labor, provided that the customer shall be responsible for any transportation cost. This warranty does not apply to: (i) cosmetic damage, such as scratches, nicks and dents; (ii) consumable parts, such as batteries, unless product damage has occurred due to a defect in materials or workmanship; (iii) damage caused by accident, abuse, misuse, water, flood, fire, or other acts of nature or external causes; (iv) damage caused by service performed by anyone who is not an authorized service provider of Garmin; (v) damage to a product that has been modified or altered without the written permission of Garmin; or (vi) damage to a product that has been connected to power and/or data cables that are not supplied by Garmin. In addition, Garmin reserves the right to refuse warranty claims against products or services that are obtained and/or used in contravention of the laws of any country."

Under no situation i see anything that deems that if my watch is damaged/scratched on the bezel that the watch is no longer under warranty, however both GB and ES/PT support tried to claim that.

Because if the Fenix is indeed an outdoor watch and all that about battle scars, well if we have a small dent on the crown of the watch then warranty void ?

I really hope i am understanding this wrong, i really do because i do love Garmin and i have invested a lot of money into the ecosystem and im sure when the F8 comes i'll get it again.

    However i don't understand this.

And again just to make it clear again i was not trying to claim warranty for scratches i was just asking for a budget to get the screen/bezel swapped .. when im dropped with the bomb that well if your watch is damaged on the bezel then you are out of warranty.

Photo from watch when i left the hospital after the crash, the bezel did its part it shielded the glass who had a glass protector on top and yes that one got shattered .. so 5 stars all .... dont know how to rate the support or warranty yet.

  • I don't think you understand what you have been told. A scratched bezel is not covered under warranty but it doesn't mean that your warranty is terminated.
