Hi
Well, everything is in the title. For a similar price, would you go for the new but basic fenix 7s or for the sapphire version of the 6s?
And to be fair, the 7s is 100€ more expensive...
Thanks for your suggestions!

I would recommend a 7s sapphire solar as it can use the "multi frequency" GPS. The standard 7s cannot. And it has double memory.
That's over my budget
I'm not sure what the firmware of the 6s is currently doing, but the GPS of my old 6s was terribly bad. There were many threads on pace suddenly cutting out if there was a tree somewhere nearby, some of my runs were easily 100m per 1km short, and similar things. In normal urban settings with wider roads and just 2-4 storey buildings. It's a bit ***, but if you're after a small watch with lots of functionality then Garmin doesn't really seem to care a lot about you and options are limited :(
Then go with the standard 7s
Not very encouraging.. How long ago was that? Maybe layer firmwares addressed the issue
I gave up on it when the 7s came out. Have not used it since. I feel tempted to update it and see how it does compared to the 7s because of battery drain issue. Might be an interesting comparison in more aspects than one.
Ok so despite the problems you still stocked to garmin. Glad to hear the 7s works fine
BTW are the suggested workouts 100% focused on running? Polar suggests workouts but let you choose among running, core activity, etc (which is good as the workout also depends on the weather or the time)
Well, lacking alternatives, really. Fitbit is pushing their premium service and had no suitable devices for me. Polar: battery time and size. Suunto maybe but I didn't know anyone with such a device. So it kind of had to be Garmin. Lack of better I guess ;) and yeah, until Garmin fixes the battery drain issue on my and many other watches it's rather useless.
So, ignore HR. I had an external sensor connected to the 6s (bottom) that I was carrying with me but that was not connected to the 7s (top). Doesn't look totally different, right? Lets look into more detail:
Why the 6s solar pro is shite:
A small 5k with intervals with both the 7s SS and 6s SP. The *** pace track is from the 6s.
And both separately. As you can see the 6s constantly drops pace at odd location, and then catches up again. it already starts poorly at the beginning where there are trees along the road (autumn, naked trees and I was running on the road not the sidewalk). Dropped pace a few more times and caught up again, and totally lost it at the end where I have to admit the GPS signal isn't very good.
thanks, that's quite clear...it's weird I couldn't find almost anything on this (on youtube)!
